중국 근대소설의 신화적 영웅 인물형상 연구

국문 초록

본고는『 자야』를 한 편의 신화로 전제하고, 우쑨푸라는 한 개인, 작가 마오둔, 그리고 중국 사회의 삼자(三者)가 어떻게 과업 수행을 위한 탐색의 과정을 진행하였는지, 그리고 그 결과 중국의 미래에 대해 어떠한 대안을 제시하고자 했는지 살펴보았다. 특히 우쑨푸는 5·4 근대작가들이 흔히 차용하던 영웅적 인물형상이 주로 우월적인 위치에서 국민을 계몽하고, 이를 위해 자신을 희생하는 것조차 주저하지 않음으로써 결국 비극적인 모습으로 결론지어지기 일쑤였던 데 반해, 더 이상영웅이기를 포기하며 새로운 단계로의 진입을 결정한다는 점에서 일종의 명쾌함과 필연성마저 제시해준다. 우선 2장에서는 마오둔의 창작 의식의 변천과 이에 따라 우쑨푸라는 영웅이 탄생하게 되는 과정을 짚어 보았다. 3장에서는 우쑨푸의 영웅적 면모와 더 이상 영웅이 아니게 되는 과정, 그리고 새로운 영웅으로서 노동자계급이 탄생하게 되는 과정을 노드롭 프라이(Northrop Frye)의 신화비평이론과 접 목해 분석하였다. 이때 민족자본, 매판자본주의, 노동자 계급 등과 같은 경제 어휘는 영웅의 몰락과 새 영웅의 탄생 과정을 분석할 중요한 개념을 내포한다. 다시 말해 5·4시기 이상적 인성(人性)의 추구, 국민성 개조 등을 주창하던 영웅적 인물은몰락하고, 이제 사회를 변혁하려면 ‘경제와 생활’을 중심으로 사회의 물적 토대 자체를 바꾸어야만 하는 것이다. 그 주체로서 제시된 노동자 계급은 새 사회의 새로운 영웅으로서, 마오둔 역시 작품 속에서 우쑨푸의 몰락과 동시에 이 인물의 등장을 암시하였다. 대혼란과 전환의 시기에 마오둔은『 자야』에서 이들 인물의 교체를통해 중국의 미래상을 제시하고, 이것이 어떤 필연적인 결과라는 당위성을 말하고 있다.

영문 초록

This paper presupposes『 The Twilight: The Romance of China in 1930』 as a myth, and examines how an individual named Wu Sun-fu, a writer Maodun, and Chinese society proceeded with the process of exploration to perform tasks, and as a result, what alternatives were to China’s future. In particular, Wu Sun-fu suggests a kind of clarity and inevitability in that he gives up being a hero and decides to enter a new stage, while the heroic figure commonly borrowed by May 4th modern writers usually enlighten the people in a superior position and does not hesitate to sacrifice himself, finally it ends up being tragic. First of all, Chapter 2 examines the transition of Maodun’s creative consciousness and the process of the birth of a hero named Wu Sun-fu. In Chapter 3, we will analyze Wu Sun-fu's heroism, the process of becoming no longer a hero, and the process of creating a labor class as a new hero in conjunction with Northrop Frye’s mythological criticism theory. At this time, economic vocabulary such as national capital, sales capitalism, and labor class implies important concepts to analyze the downfall of heroes and the birth process of new heroes. In other words, the heroic figure who advocated the pursuit of ideal personality and the modification of national character in the May 4th period will collapse, and now, in order to transform society, the physical foundation of society must be changed around “economy and life.” The labor class presented as the subject is a new hero of the new society, and Maodun also hinted at the appearance of this character at the same time as the fall of Wu Sun-fu in the work. In the period of mayhem and transition, Maodun presents the future of China through the replacement of these figures in『 The Twilight: The Romance of China in 1930』, and speaks of the justification that this is an inevitable result.
