GDELT 빅데이터 기반 한중관계 시계열 분석: 1992~2021

국문 초록

한국과 중국이 국교 수립 후 30년간 경제협력, 문화/학술 교류, 군사와 같이 분야별로 시대 상황에 따라 다르게 진행되어 왔다. 한중관계 연구에 있어서 양국의 관계를 보다 객관적으로 잘 이해하기 위해서는 인간의 개입이나 방해를 막고 컴퓨터가 인식하는 정보를 토대로 분석한다면 자료에 대한 객관성을 보장받을 수 있을 것이며, 이렇게 분석된 결과는 여러 분야에서 유용하게 사용될 수 있을 것이다. 본 연구는 GDELT라는 빅데이터 기반 시계열 이벤트 데이터를 분석하여 한중수교 이후 30년간의 한중관계의 갈등-협력 관계를 분석하였다. 갈등-협력 스펙트럼의 Goldstein 값을 기반으로 연간 평균 갈등-협력 정도를 측정하였다. 또한, 음- 양 스펙트럼을 갖는 감정지수를 기준으로 기사의 톤(tone)을 분석하고 도식화하 였다. 본 연구는 1992년부터 2021년까지 양국 간의 갈등-협력 지수 및 감정지수의 시대별 변화과정을 추적하여 양국의 관계 변화와 양국 간의 심리적 거리감을 분석하고 그 이슈와 관련한 GDELT가 유용하다는 것을 검증하였다. 동시에 본 연구는 분석의 타당성과 신뢰성을 기초로 GDELT를 이용하여 향후 대중국 정책을 결정하는 데 있어 보다 효과적인 접근법을 찾을 수 있도록 기여하기 위해 작성되었다.

영문 초록

For the past 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Korea and China, various relationship has been made in different fields, such as economic cooperation, cultural/academic exchanges, and military affairs have varied according to the situation of the times. One option to analyse this is to use data objectively with the analysis being based on computer-recognized information In order to better understand the relationship between Korea and China objectively through data can be guaranteed if human intervention or interference is prevented and analyzed based on information recognized by computers, and the results of this analysis can be useful in many fields. This study analyzed big data-based time series event data (GDELT) and analyzed the conflict-cooperation relationship between Korea and China for the past 30 years after the establishment of diplomatic ties. Based on the Goldstein value of the conflict-cooperation spectrum, the annual average conflict-cooperation degree was measured. In addition, the tone of the news article was analyzed and schematized based on the emotional index with the negative-positive spectrum. This study tracked the process of changes in the conflict-cooperation index and emotional index between the two countries from 1992 to 2021, analyzed the change in relations between the two countries and the psychological distance between the two countries, and verified that GDELT is useful. Simultaneously this study was written to contribute to finding a more effective approach in determining future policies toward China using GDELT based on the validity and reliability of the analysis.
