상황학습의 시공간으로서의 현장성에 관한 목공장인의 작업장 사례 분석

국문 초록

상황인지 또는 체화인지 연구 패러다임은 사고와 경험을 실제 맥락으로서의 환경과 그 안에서의 실천으로 이해할 수 있는 길을 열어주었다. 이에 따르면 행위자는 자신의 경험이나 앎을 환경으로 체화시켜 다루면서 그 안에서 자신이 하고자 하는 일의 목적과 해법을 효율적으로 모색한다. 전문가는 문제해결을 넘어서서 환경과의 상호작용, 즉 자신의 일의 환경을 구성하고 그에 기반하여 이를 성찰함으로써 스스로의 목적을 성취하는 행위자이다. 작업장은 다양한 자원과 도구의 배치를 통해 일의 성취에 영향을 미치는 물리적 공간의 의미를 넘어선다. 그것은 상황학습의 공간, 즉 그 안에 있는 행위자로 하여금 일에 관여하는 과정에 따라 자신의 일의 계획과 진행을 예측하고 재생산할 수 있도록 해주는 생활세계(life world)이자 활동시스템(activity system)이다. 이 연구에서는 민속방법론(Ethnomethodology)에 의존하여 목공장인의 작업장 사례를 중심으로 장인의 기술이 어떻게 작업장의 현장성과 맞물려 발휘될 수 있는가에 관해 관찰 분석하고자 하였다. 분석 결과는 현장성이 고정된 공간이 아닌 국지적 실천과 함께 재생산되는 시간적 점유를 통해 존재하는 공간의 특성에 관해 잘 보여줄 것이다. 경험과 학습이 일어나는 ‘실시간(real time) 경험’ 또는 ‘실제 맥락’을 관찰에 기반한 질적 분석에 의해 그 이해를 확장시킬 수 있는지 질적연구방법의 가능성 확장에 일조하길 기대한다.

영문 초록

The situationalism paradigm opened the way to understand thinking and experience as an environment, as a real context and practice within the environment. This means that the actor efficiently seeks the purpose and solution of what he or she wants to do in it while treating his or her experience or knowledge as an environment. An expert is an actor who achieves his or her purpose by constructing the environment and reflecting on it, meaning having the interaction with the environment of his or her work, going beyond problem solving. The workplace means more than just a physical space as it affects the achievement of work with the placement of various resources and tools. It is a space for situated learning, that is, a life world and activity system that allows the actors in it to predict and reproduce their work plans and progress, following the process of engaging in work. This study adopted ethnomethodology to observe and analyze how the craftsman’s skills can be exhibited in conjunction with the field nature of the workplace, using the woodworker’s workplace as an example. The analysis results will show the characteristics of the space that exists through temporal occupancy reproduced with local practice, instead of being a fixed space with fieldability. It is expected that it will contribute to expanding the possibility of qualitative research methods on whether the ‘real time experience’ or real context’ in which experience and learning take place can be expanded by observation-based qualitative analysis.
