근대한자어 ｢감염｣의 일고찰

국문 초록

本稿では、近代漢語｢感染｣という語について、日本における形成と韓国への流入過程を中心に考察したものである。その結果をまとめると次のようである。 まず、｢感染｣は中国でも現在使用されており、中国の古典で確認できる伝統漢語ではない近代漢語ということが窺い知ることができた。 次に、韓国では開化期以前は｢感｣や｢染｣が使用されており、開化期後半に雑誌等に多数出現していることが確認できた。 最後に、日本では明治期以前は見つからず、英語｢Affection｣が｢感染｣に対訳されたことが日本で見られる最初の出典である。その後西洋の文物である雑誌等によって広く普及し定着していることが確認できた。そして、その後まもなく開化期韓国に受容され、韓国の官報と雑誌に載って使用されていることが確認できた。 従って、今日韓国で使用されている｢感染｣という語は明治期日本で形成し、開化期後半韓国へ伝播した可能性が高い語であると考えられる。

영문 초록

This study analyzes the formation in Japan of the modern Chinese word, Gahm-Yeom and their introduction into Korea. The results from the study are summarized as follows. First, it was confirmed that the modern Chinese word, Gahm-Yeom is currently used in China but is not a traditional Chinese word that was used in the Chinese classical literature. Next, it was found that while Gahm and Yeom were used instead of Gahm-Yeom prior to the Enlightenment Period, Gahm-Yeom was widely used in the media such as magazines and official gazettes that appeared in the later time of the Enlightenment Period. Lastly, according to this study Gahm-Yeom was translated into Affection in English during Meiji era, and was widely used in modern magazines, official gazettes, and so forth. In addition, Gahm-Yeom was accepted as a Korean word through Korean official gazettes and the magazines of Korean international students. Therefore, it was highly likely that Gahm-Yeom that is being used these days was formed during Meiji era, was introduced and took root in Korea gradually under the influence of Japan.
