전북 동부지역 제철유적에 대한 접근법

국문 초록

‘가야사 복원’이라는 국정과제 이후 5년차가 되었고, 전북 동부지역의 제철유적에 대한 조사·연구도 어느 정도 진전되고 있다. 지역 연구자들의 관심과 노력 속에 찾아진 전북 동부지역의 제철유적은 약 230여개소에 달한다. 아직까지 발굴조사를 통해 삼국시대로 비정할 수 있는 제철유적은 확인되지 않았다. 본고는 현재까지 확인된 전북 동부지역 제철유적의 조사 성과를 토대로가야와의 관련성을 살피고, 향후 과제와 함께 접근법을 제안하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 전북 동부지역 제철유적의 현황을 살피고, 고대 제철유적의 입지·구조· 출토유물을 재검토하면서 전북지역 내 고대 제철유적의 존재를 위한 전제조건을 제시하였다. 특히 고대 제철유적은 하천과 인접한 평지와 구릉지에 입지하며, 원료 및 연료의 반입, 생산물의 유통에서 수로를 적극 활용한 점은 분명한 사실이다. 이러한 고대 제철유적의 입지적 요소를 고려한다면, 기존에 보고된 다수의 제철유적 중에서 산지보다는 산록경사부의 하단부나, 하천과 인접한 구릉지를 중점적으로 조사하는 것이 효과적일 것이다. 전북 동부지역 내 고대 제철유적을 찾는다면, 그동안 주목받았던 남원, 장수권역 보다는 유적 수는 많지 않지만 입지적으로 탁월한 임실권역의 제철유적에 관심을 두어야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

It became the 4th year after the national agenda on‘ the restoration of the history of Gaya’, and the somewhat advanced result of the survey and research on the iron manufacture remains in the eastern region of Jeollabukdo is revealed. The iron manufacture found with the interest and effort of regional researchers in the eastern region of Jeongbuk reach 230 or more places. It is sorry that the iron manufacture remains comparatively decided to be Gaya have not been found so far through the excavation survey. This manuscript is concerned with addressing the relevance to Gaya on the basis of the survey result of the iron manufacture remains having been found so far in the eastern region of Jeollabuk-do and with proposing the approach with the future challenge. Accordingly, the preconditions for the existence of the iron manufacture remains of Gaya in the Jeollabuk-do region were presented by addressing the current status of the iron manufacture remains in the eastern region of Jeollabuk-do and by reviewing the location, structure, and excavated relics of the ancient iron manufacture remains. Especially, the ancient iron manufacture remains are located in the flatland and hill area around the river. It is apparently true that the waterway was actively used for carrying in raw materials and fuels and for distributing products. Considering the locational factor of the ancient iron manufacture remains, it is effective to check in priority the lower part of the foot of a mountain or the hill area around the river rather than a mountain among the many iron manufacture remains already reported. In addition, it is needed to focus on the iron manufacture remains in the Imsil region, which don t have many remains but is locationally excellent, along with Namwon and Jangsu regions having received attention so far.
