백제의 토성과 합천 성산토성의 축조기술 비교

국문 초록

이 글은 삼국시대 성곽의 구조 및 축조기술에 대한 연구의 일환으로서, 백제의 토성과 합천 성산토성의 축조기술을 비교하기위해 작성되었다. 백제의 토성과 합천 성산토성을 비교한 결과, 양자의 공통점은 기초를 조성하는 부분에서 집중되었다. 독립구릉의 경사면을삭토하고 조성된 합천 성산토성과 같은 입지의 백제 토성 사이의 유사성이 강한 것으로 확인되었다. 본격적인 체성의 부피를 늘리는 공정에서는 판축구조물을 사용하지 않는다는 점에서 성토기법으로 이해할 수 있다. 양자의 차이점은 상부에서 두드러진다. 초축성벽의 마무리 단계, 그리고 이어지는 2열 목책의 설치와 증축성벽의 축조 방식이그것이다. 결과적으로 백제와는 차별된 합천 성산토성의 특징이 잘 드러나게 된다. 특히 합천 성산토성에서 확인되는 적극적인석재 활용 양상은 최근 자료가 증가하고 있는 가야권역의 성곽들과 강한 유사성을 띠고 있다. 합천 성산토성의 상부에서 확인된 기술, 즉 초축성벽의 마무리와 증축성벽의 축조기술은 백제의 토성에서 유례를 찾기 어렵다는 점에서 중요한 의미를 갖는다. 이것이 가야권역 내 상호작용에 의한 결과인지, 다라국만의 노하우였을지 현재로서는 결론짓기 어렵다. 이에 대해서는 자료의 증가와 후속연구를 통해 밝혀야할 부분이다.

영문 초록

As the research on the structures and construction techniques of earthen fortification in the period of the Three Kingdoms, this paper aims to compare the construction techniques of Earthen Fortifications in Baekje and Hapcheon Seongsan Earthen Fortification. As a result of comparing Earthen Fortifications in Baekje and Hapcheon Seongsan Earthen Fortification, it showed that both have something in common mainly in terms of the way laying the foundation. Since the Hapcheon Seongsan Earthen Fortification was built after cutting an incline of the independent hill, it is very similar to Earthen Fortifications in Baekje with the same location. It may be assumed as the ‘Fill(盛土)’method since the‘ Panchuk(版築)’technique was not used even in the process to increase the bulk of the wall. In addition, both have the similarity in that the‘ Panchuk(版築)’technique was utilized in the top of the wall. The differences between the both Earthen Fortifications are prominent from their upper parts. They include the final stage of the first made wall, subsequent installation of the two-row wooden barricade, and construction techniques of the extended wall. As a result, it shows characteristics of the Hapcheon Seongsan Earthen Fortification which is differentiated from the Earthen Fortifications in Baekje. In particular, active using of stone shown from the Hapcheon Seongsan Earthen Fortification has the close similarity to that of the fortresses of the Gaya areas, in which related data is increasing. Techniques found out from the top of the Hapcheon Seongsan Earthen Fortification, or finishing of the first made wall and the construction skills of the extended wall, have significance in that there is difficulty in identifying a similar case from the Earthen Fortifications in Baekje. At present, it is not easy to conclude whether it is the result of interactions within the Gaya areas or it is unique knowhow of the Dara State. It needs more data and follow-up studies.
