도자 표현을 위한 생체모방 응용 사례 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 인류가 자연에서 영감을 받고 이용하는 생체모방에 대한 고찰과 응용 사례의 분석을 통해 경제성과 효율성의 가치뿐만 아니라 예술적 이용의 가치를 제고하자 한다. 이를 바탕으로 도자 분야에서 예술적 응용 가능성을 탐구하고 방향성에 대해 제안하고자 한다. 연구 방법은 생체모방 응용 사례를 산업, 예술, 도자 분야로 나누어 조사하고 이를 형태, 기능, 색 모방을 기준으로 분류하여 진행하였다. 분석된 자료를 바탕으로 생체모방의 응용 현황을 확인하고 다음과 같은 방향으로 이용됨을 알 수 있었다. 생체모방이 산업 분야에서는 기술의 한계성을 극복하려는 방향으로 이용되었고 예술 분야에서는 자연의 아름다움의 요소 적용으로 작품의 미적 가치를 높이는 방향으로 나타났다. 도자 분야에서는 수축, 강도, 열처리와 같은 물질적 특성들로 인해 결과물의 불완전한 예측이라는 위험성을 안고 있어 타 분야에 비해 생체모방이 소극적인 방향으로 활용되고 있음을 확인하였다. 이러한 한계성을 극복하기 위해 수축의 변화가 적고 강도 높은 소지의 개발과 다양한 색의 러스터 유약 개발과 같은 재료 연구가 필요하다. 향후 공학 분야와 도예 작가들의 협업이 진행된다면 도자 작품 제작에 있어 생체모방을 응용한 표현이 확장되리라 기대한다.

영문 초록

This study is to reconsider the value of artistic use as well as its economic feasibilty and efficiency by analyzing considerations and applied case about biomimetics that humans get inspired by nature. On basis of these, this study explores the possibility of artistic application in the field of ceramics and proposes future directions. In order to find the research method, biomimicry application cases were divided into industrial, art, and ceramic fields, and classified based on form, function, and color imitation. After confirming the status of biomimetic application based on analyzed data, we found that the next following directions were used. Biomimetics were used in the industrial field to overcome the limitations of technology, and in the field of art, it increased the aesthetic value of the work by applying elements of natural beauty. In the field of ceramics, it was confirmed that biomimetics are being used in a passive way compared to other fields - there is a risk that is incomplete prediction of results due to material characteristics such as shrinkage, strength, and heat treatment. In order to overcome this limitation, research on materials proceeds such as development of a substrate with little change in shrinkage and high strength as well as various colored luster glazes are necessary. From now on, if cooperations between engineering field and ceramic artists are held, It is expected for biomimetic application to be expanded on production of ceramic works.
