국문 초록

신석기시대는 중국 선사시대 사회 발전사에 있어서 매우 중요한 단계였고, 신석기시대의 토기의 탄생은 이 시대의 가장 두드러진 사회적으로 문화적으로 큰 전환점이 되었다. 또한 토기의 탄생으로부터 발생된 여러 가지 생활환경과 생활도구의 변화는 보다 다양한 측면으로 반영되어 문화적 발전 요인을 결정하는 중요한 요소의 하나가 되었다. 특히 신석기시대의 토기에 나타나는 다양한 유형과 형태 및 장식 문양은, 문화인류학적 관점에서도 신석기시대 일정한 지역의 문화와 정신 의식 및 생활양식에 대한 매우 귀중한 자료이자 증거라 할 수 있을 것이다. 따라서 본 연구는 중국 신석기시대 토기의 장식 문양에 대하여 그 특징을 고찰하고 다양한 토기 자료들을 조사하여 이를 분석하고자 한다. 본 연구를 통해 문화유형별 상징적 의미와 시대적 발전 양상 및 특징을 이해하고자 하며, 이를 자연과학적 관점에서 보면, 토기에 장식된 동물 문양 및 식물 문양에서 나타나는 변화의 과정을 통해 고대인들은 수렵어로 생활에서 경작생활로의 전환이 어떻게 반영되었는지를 찾고자 한다. 또한 미술사적으로 보면, 신석기 시대의 토기 문양 장식은 중국 예술문화의 효시이자 중국 미술의 원초적인 표현 양식이라는 점도 인식하고자 한다. 본 연구를 위하여 신석기시대 토기의 장식 문양을 연구대상으로 하고 문헌적, 기호학적, 고고학적 등의 다양한 연구 영역에서 신석기시대의 문화유형별 토기문양의 장식적 특징을 양식적으로 분석하는 것을 그 범위로 하였다. 본 연구의 세부적인 내용으로는 주로 크게 세 부분으로 나누어 논술하고자 하였다. 첫째로, 신석기시대의 문화유형별 대표적인 문양의 정리를 통해 각각의 장식 특징을 분석하고자 하였다. 다음으로, 신석기시대 토기에 나타난 문양을 기하학적 문양, 동물 문양, 식물 문양의 세 유형으로 나누어 사례를 통해 유형별 문양의 특징 및 변천 과정을 분석하고자 하였다. 마지막으로 신석기시대의 문양에서 나타난 표현 양식을 구조적 관점에서 조사하고 연구하였다. 따라서 중국 신석기 시대의 대표적인 문화유형별 토기의 장식 문양을 연구자의 분석을 근거로 하여 정리한 결과, 토기는 조형적으로나 장식 문양으로나 소재가 풍부하고 독특한 장식 문양은 중국 고대인들의 삶에 있어서 미적 표현양식의 수준이 매우 높았으며, 중국의 높은 도자문화의 기초가 되었음을 인식할 수 있었다. 더불어, 본 연구가 중국 고대 문화를 보존 계승하고 향후 중국 토기를 연구하고 개발하는데 기초자료가 되기를 바란다.

영문 초록

Neolithic Age was a very important stage in the social development of prehistoric times in China. The birth of pottery in the Neolithic Age became the most prominent social and cultural turning point of this era. In addition, various aspects have shown that the various changes in living environments and living tools produced by the birth of pottery have become one of the important factors affecting the development of culture. In particular, the various types, forms, and decorative patterns on potteries in the Neolithic Age can be regarded as the valuable materials and evidence of cultural and spiritual consciousness and lifestyle in different areas in the Neolithic Age from the perspective of cultural anthropology. Accordingly, this study explores and analyzes the characteristics of decorative patterns on pottery in the Chinese Neolithic age by investigating various pottery materials. Through this research, the symbolic significance, development patterns and characteristics of different cultural types can be understood. From the perspective of the natural sciences, the evolution of the animal and plant patterns on the pottery reflects the transformation of the ancient ancestors from the fishing-and- hunting economy to the planting economy. From the perspective of art history, the pattern decoration on Neolithic pottery can be regarded as the pioneer of Chinese culture and the originator of art. Taking the decorative patterns on Neolithic pottery as the study object, this study used various study methods including documentary method, semiotics, archaeology etc. to analyze the decorative features of pottery patterns with different cultural types in the Neolithic Age. The main body of this study can be divided into three parts. In the first part, through sorting out and summarizing the representative patterns of pottery with different cultural types in the Neolithic Age, their respective decorative characteristics were analyzed. In the second part, the patterns appearing on potteries in the Neolithic Age were divided into three categories: geometric patterns, animal patterns and plant patterns. The characteristics and evolution of different types of patterns are analyzed and studied with examples. Finally, from the perspective of pattern structure, the pottery patterning methods in the Neolithic Age were investigated.
