생태주의적 관점의 도자조형 연구

국문 초록

본 논문은 시대의 변화와 흐름 속에 지속적으로 제기되고 있는 생태 위기에 대한 해결책을 생태주의적 입장에서의 논의와 더불어 미술을 통한 생태 운동의 가능성에 대한 연구이다. 일반적으로 환경에 대한 사회적 관심은 1960년대부터 시작되었다. 이후 과학, 철학, 정치 등의 분야의 연구로 이어졌고, 미술 또한 생명과 환경의 균형적 관계에 대한 관심과표현을 시작하며 사회적 역할을 담당하기 시작하였다. 당시 문화계의 트렌드였던 삶과 분리된 모더니즘에 대한 회의와 더불어 자연과 환경의 일부로서의 미술에 대한 인식이 생기기 시작하였고, 환경과 생명의 존재에 대한 주제를 담은 미술표현에 대한 논의가 시작된것이다. 본 연구에서는 연구자의 작품들의 이론적 배경이 되는 근본생태주의와 사회생태주의의주장에 대하여 알아보고, 생태주의의 철학적, 사회적 사고를 조형화시킨 연구자의 작품들에 대하여 분석한다. 그럼으로써 생태 문제에 대한 경고성 메시지를 담은 또 하나의 미술표현적 방법론을 제시하기 위함이다. 연구 작품들은 생태주의 이론의 기초가 되는 ‘관계성’이라는 주제를 중심으로 분류하여 분석하였다. 작품들은 인간과 타 생명체들을 분리하여 사고하는 이원론적 관계에 대한 작품들과, 인간을 포함한 모든 생명들의 가치를 동등하게 인정하고자 하는 일원론적 관계를 표현한 작품들로 구분하여 알아보았다. 이러한 생태주의의 철학적, 사회적 사고에 기초한 작품 연구를 통해 보다 객관적이고 논리적인 표현이 가능할 것이고, 조형 표현의 사회적 기능 또한 확장시킬 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

In the change and stream of age, this study is on discussion in ecological terms about a solution for ecological crisis which is continuously posed and the possibility of ecological movement through Art. Generally, it is said that social concern about the environment has started since the 1960’s. Since then, researches spread to various fields of science, philosophy, politics, etc. Art also started to take a social role as it began to express concern about balanced relationship of life and environment. Recognition of art as a part of nature and environment arouse along with skepticism about modernism, a trend at that time, separated from life. Discussion about art expression began to involve a theme of existence of environment and life. This study will examine arguments of radical ecology and social ecology which are this researcher’s theoretic background and analyze this researcher’s art works which are molding philosophical and social ideas of ecology. That is to suggest another art expressive methodology to involve warning to ecological problems. The researched works were analyzed by classifying them on the focus of a theme, ‘relationship,’ which were the basis of ecological theories. They were divided into one type of works to express dualistic relationship in which human and other creatures are separately considered and the other to express monistic relationship in which all creatures including human are equally recognized. In this respect, research on works based on philosophical and social consideration of ecology will make it possible to select more objective and logical themes and expand social function of installation expression as well.
