국문 초록

이 연구는 한국사회의 젠더 이데올로기의 다차원성을 종합적으로 규명하기 위해 한국복지패널의 다섯 가지 젠더 규범을 반영한 성역할 태도 문항들을 모두 이용하여 잠재집단분석을했다. 한국사회의 젠더 이데올로기 지형은 기혼자의 경우 ‘일지향적 가족주의, 전통주의, 성평등주의’, 미혼자는 ‘성평등주의, 일지향적 가족주의, 전통주의’ 순으로 강하여, 미혼자가 상대적으로 더 성평등주의적 가치를 지향했다. 성별로도 보면, 기혼여성은 기혼남성보다 남성생계부양자 규범을 제외한 젠더 규범들의 수용률이 높았지만, 미혼여성이 미혼남성보다 더 젠더규범에 순응적인 것은 아니었다. 그러나 결혼 여부와 상관없이 ‘일지향적 가족주의’는 여성이강했고, ‘성평등주의’는 남성생계부양자 규범에 순응하는 남성에 의해 내부에서 ‘유연한 성평등주의’가 출현할 가능성이 있을 정도로 불안정했다. 이는 성평등주의의 분화가 여성의 육아역할과 일ㆍ가정 갈등 외에도, 남성의 생계부양 역할을 유지하려는 전통적 태도와 관련된 것임을 의미한다. 이렇듯 한국사회에서 젠더 이데올로기의 다차원성은 ‘여성 주도의 일지향적가족주의와 남성 주도의 유연한 성평등주의’라는 성평등주의의 분화에서 비롯됐다. 젠더 이데올로기 유형별 특성을 보면, 기혼자의 경우 고학력 고소득 가구의 기혼자가 성평등주의를, 저학력 저소득 가구의 기혼자는 전통주의를 지향했고, 정규직도 비취업자보다 더성평등적인 성향을 보였다. 또 남편 대비 여성의 상대소득이 높은 여성생계부양자 가구와 맞벌이 가구 등이 남성생계부양자 가구보다 더 성평등적인 부부일 확률이 높았다. 따라서 여성이 정규직이고 남편에 대한 경제적 의존성이 약할수록 부부가 함께 성평등주의를 지향할 가능성이 커서, 성평등한 사회로의 이행을 위해서라도 여성에게 정규직같이 고용이 안정되고가계경제를 이끌 정도의 소득이 보장된 일자리를 보급하는 것이 중요하다. 또 미혼자를 중심으로 20~30대 청년층이 성평등주의를 지향한 만큼, 청년층의 페미니즘 교육을 체계화하여 이들이 자율성과 합리적 선택으로 포장된 적응과 타협에 흔들리지 않고 본연의 성평등주의 성향이 강화되게끔 돕는 대책이 요구된다.

영문 초록

Using latent class analysis on the respondents by the marital status to the five gender role norms: ‘women’s family care norms’, ‘women’s childcare norms’, ‘women’s housewife identity norms’, ‘male-breadwinner norms’, and ‘dual earner norms’, this article shows the gender ideology of Korean society is composed of ‘pro-work familialism’, ‘egalitarianism’, and ‘traditionalism’ for both married and unmarried people. Although ‘pro-work familialism’ exists centered on women, there is a possibility that within ‘egalitarianism’ a new gender ideology called ‘flexible egalitarianism’ can emerge by men who accepts the ‘male-breadwinner norms’. This suggests that the diversification of egalitarianism is not due to women’s parenting role and work-family conflict, but rather from the attitude of accepting men’s traditional role. As such, the multidimensionality of gender ideology in Korean society is due to the diversification of egalitarianism like flexible egalitarianism’, in addition to ‘pro-work familialism’. In the case of married people, high-educated, high-income households tends to be supportive of egalitarianism, and low-educated, low-income households tends to traditionalists. And regular workers show more egalitarianism in comparison to the unemployed. In addition, female-breadwinner households and dual earner households and so on, where women’s relative income is higher than that of husbands, are more likely to be gender equal couples than male-breadwinner households. Therefore, the more women are regular workers and the weaker their economic dependence on their husbands, the more likely couples are to pursue egalitarianism, so for the gender equality it is important to provide women with jobs, such as regular position that can be possible stable employment and income enough to lead the household economy. In the case of the unmarried, as young people in their 20s and 30s are particularly oriented toward egalitarianism, it is required to help them by systematizing the feminist education to strengthen their gender egalitarian tendencies without being swayed by adaptation and compromise.
