국문 초록

이 논문은 가라타니 고진의 『마르크스 그 가능성의 중심』을 현대 일본 지성사의 맥락 속에서 독해한다. 이를 통해 『마르크그 그 가능성의 중심』이 현대 일본의 비평과 마르크스주의가 교차하는 지점에 자리한 저작임을 논증하고, 그 자리에서 현대 일본의 자기정체성 비판이 어떻게 반복되는지를 검토한다. 우선 비평의 계보 속에서 가라타니의 지적 영위는 고바야시 히데오와 마루야마 마사오의 비판적 대화를 계승하는 작업으로 정의될 수 있다. 그것은 마르크스주의와 대결하면서 현대 일본의 자기 정체성을 비판적으로 탐구해온 계보를 가라타니가 계승함을 의미한다. 또한 『마르크스 그 가능성의 중심』은 1970년 초반 뉴레프트의 파산이란 국면에서 등장한 저작임이 주목된다. 가라타니는 뉴레프트의 자기 붕괴 과정을 통해 고바야시와 마루야마가 시도했던 비평을 차이나게 반복했으며, 이 때 그는 일본 마르크스 정치경제학 비판 연구에 지대한 영향을 끼친 우노 코조의 『자본』 독해를 핵심적인 참조점으로 삼는다. 그는 마르크스주의 운동의 관점에서는 이단시되었던 우노　경제학을 적극적으로 재전유하면서 마르크스의 텍스트를 이데올로기로서가 아니라 비평으로 전유하여 현대 일본의 이데올로기 비판을 내파 하려 했던 것이다. 그런 의미에서 『마르크스 그 가능성의 중심』은 현대 일본 지성사에서 비평의 임계점에 자리하며, 그것의 근원적 한계를 지시하는 고전으로 평가될 수 있다.

영문 초록

This paper reads Karatani Kojin s Marx, toward its center of possibility in the context of modern Japanese intellectual history. Through this, we argue that the book is a work located at the intersection of modern Japanese criticism and Marxism, and examine how modern Japanese self-identification of criticism repeats on the spot. First of all, Karatani s ciriticism can be defined as the work of inheriting the critical dialogue between Kobayashi Hideo and Maruyama Masao. It means that Karatani inherits the genealogy that has critically explored the self-identity of modern Japan while confronting Marxism. In addition, it is noteworthy that Marx, toward its center of possibility appeared in the early 1970s in the phase of New Left s bankruptcy. Karatani repeated the criticism through the process of self-destruction of the New Left, and at this time, he made Uno Kozo s reading of The Capital a key reference, which had a profound influence on the study of Marxian political economics in Japan. He actively re-read Uno economics, which was heresy from the perspective of the Marxist movement, and tried to internalize the ideological criticism of modern Japan by transferring Marx s texts not as ideologies but as criticism. In that sense, Marx, toward its center of possibility is at the critical point of criticism in modern Japanese intellectual history and can be evaluated as a classic that dictates its fundamental limitations.
