艮齋 田愚의 『檢本』에 대한 일고

국문 초록

본고는 艮齋 田愚(1841～1922)의 『檢本』에 대해 최초로 소개하면서 가치에 대해 살펴보았다. 전우는 조선 성리학의 대표적 논쟁 가운데 화서학파와 노사학파, 한주학파 등과 함께 心說 논변을 처음 제기한 인물이다. 본고에서 소개한 『검본』은 전우가 37세 완성한 심설 관련 저술이다. 전우의 성리설은 『艮齋集』을 비롯하여 『五賢粹言』, 『性理類選』, 『臼山旨訣』 등에 산재되어 있다. 『검본』도 전우 심설에 관련된 초기의 저서라고 할 수 있다. 『검본』은 기호학맥의 낙론계 학설을 충실히 계승하고 있음을 보여 주는 중요한 자료이다. 그러나 학계에서는 최근까지 『검본』의 소재를 알지 못했다. 『검본』은 『朱子語類』에서 가져온 명칭으로 잘못된 견해에 대해 근본을 검토한다는 의미로 상편, 하편으로 구성되어 있다. 상편은 『주자어류』를 모방하여 ｢心｣, ｢虛靈知覺｣, ｢神｣, ｢理｣, ｢情｣, ｢氣｣, ｢德｣, ｢事｣ 등 여덟 가지 주제에 대해 주자의 견해를 중심으로 설명하였고, 按說을 통해 자신의 의견을 서술했다. 하편은 상편에서 제시한 여덟 가지 주제에 대해 송시열, 김창협 등 기호학자 중심으로 견해를 모아 상편의 여덟 가지 학설을 밝혔다.

영문 초록

This paper first introduced 『Gumbon(檢本)』 by Ganjae(艮齋) Jeon-woo(田愚, 1841-1922) and looked into its value. Jeon-woo was the first to raise the Shim Seol(心說) debate along with the Hwaseo School, the Nosa School, and the Hanju School, among the representative debates of Joseon Neo-Confucianism. 『Gumbon』, introduced in this paper, is a book related to Shim Seol, completed by a comrade at the age of 37. The theory of the Confucianism of Comrades is scattered in 『Ganjaejib(艮齋集)』, 『Ohyeonsueon(五賢粹言)』, 『Seonglilyuseon (性理類選)』, 『Gusanjigyeol(臼山旨訣)』. 『Gumbon』 can also be said to be the earliest book related to the Shim Seol of Jeon-woo. 『Gumbon』 is an important material that shows that it faithfully inherits the theory of the Naglon(洛論) of the Giho school. However, the academia did not know about the existence of 『Gumbon』 until recently. 『Gumbon』 is a name taken from 『Juja-eolyu(朱子 語類)』, meaning to examine the root of wrong views. All are made up of upper and lower parts. The upper part imitated 『Juja-eolyu』 and explained eight themes such as ｢Sim(心)｣, ｢Heolyeongjigag(虛靈知覺)｣, ｢Sin(神)｣, ｢Li(理)｣, ｢ Jeong(情)｣, ｢Gi(氣)｣, ｢Deog(德)｣, ｢Sa(事)｣ . And he described his opinion through Anseol(按說). The lower part mentioned eight themes presented in the upper part. Eight theories of the above were presented by gathering opinions centering on the Giho school such as Song Si-yeol and Kim Chang-hyeop.
