탈식민주의관점에서 본 조선학교 운동회

국문 초록

[연구목적] 본 연구는 운동회라는 장이 국가와 지역이라는 이중적인 힘의 경합이 벌어지는 역동의 장이라는 전제 아래 조선학교 운동회라는 현상을 탈식민주의 관점에서 바라보고 그 안에 존재하는 구조의 역동을 분석하고자 하였다. [연구방법] 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위해 일본의 소도시에 위치한 A조선학교의 ‘동포대운동회’를 참여관찰하고 이에 참여한 학생, 학부모, 교원들을 심층면담하였다. 이러한 연구내용을 분석하는 보조자료로 다른 SNS를 통하여 공지되는 다른 조선학교 상황을 참고하였다. [연구결과] 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 조선학교 운동회라는 장은 일본과 조선이라는 상충되는 두 국가의 경쟁이 이루어지는 동시에 학교를 둘러싼 일본의 지역커뮤니티와 학교를 지지하는 산발적인 재일조선인커뮤니티라는 민중 끼리의 경쟁도 이루어지고 있는 것을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 국가-민중, 일본사회로 대표되는 식민주의와 조선으로 대표되는 탈식민주의의 개념은 운동회의 여러 요소를 통해 경합하고 있었다. 이는 운동회를 구성하는 공식언어와 비공식언어, 외부인으로서 운동회를 참여한 한국사람들이 재일조선인 커뮤니티 내에 진입하는 과정, 운동회를 준비하는 과정에서 나타나는 학생들의 반응, 운동회에서 진행하는 운동경기 경험과 그 의미 속에서 중층적으로 나타났다. 셋째, 이러한 복합적인 구조 속에서 조선학교 운동회 속의 ‘조선’은 국가명이자 이상향이자 실제적 커뮤니티의 형태로 다양하게 해석될 여지를 지니고 있었다. [결론] 조선학교의 시작이 일본과 조선이라는 ‘억압-피억압’의 구조를 전제하는 만큼 그 운동회 역시 이러한 억압의 구조를 의식화 하고 극복하는 형태의 요소를 지닌다. 이러한 틀은 선행연구에서 제시된 ‘국가-민중’이라는 구조와 결합하여 운동회 내 경험을 분석할 필요성을 마련한다.

영문 초록

[Purpose]The study focused on the phenomenon of the Choseon school’s sports day from the perspective of post-colonialism, and attempts to analyze the dynamics of the structures that exists in it. This is based on the premise that sports day is a dynamic place where the dual power compete between the nation and the local people. [Methods]For this study, we participated in and observed the ‘A choseon school’s sport day’ in a small city in Japan, and interviewed the students, parents and teachers who participated in it. As an auxiliary material for analyzing the documents, the other Choseon school in different places were referred. [Results]The result are as follows. First, there is dynamics between the concepts of Japan and ‘Choseon’, whereas dynamics at the level of community between local Japanese where the school exist and sporadic Korean diaspora community. Second, the concepts of colonialism and post-colonialism were competed in the field of sports day in various level. Third, in such a complicate structure, ‘Choseon’ in the events varied on purpose: The name of country, the label of ideal united Korean peninsula, or just a Korean diaspora community in Japan. [Conclusion]Since the beginning of the school is resistance to colonialism, its sports day also follows a form of consciousness and overcoming. Therefore, the framework need to be combined with the ‘nation-local people’ structure shown in the previous studies to analyze the experience within the event.
