영문 초록

To Investigate the effect of tenon dimension and using adhesive and wedge on the strength and stiffness of tenon-and-mortise joints, strength tests were performed with specimens having various length, height and width of tenon. The results obtained were summarized as follows: 1. Load-carrying capacity of tenon-and-mortise joints increased as the length, height and width of tenon increased. Among these three factors, the effect of length increase was greatest. 2. Tenon-and-mortise joints showed joint modulus of the level of 10-5 rad/kgf cm for all dimensions used in this study when adhesive was used, which means very stiff joints. 3. Joint modulus of tenon-and-mortise joints decreased as length, height and width of tenon increased, and these effects were evident when the length of tenon was short. 4. Tenon-and-mortise joints, in which neither adhesive nor wedge was used, showed also relatively low joint modulus that was around the level of 10-⁴ rad/kgf. em. 5. Wedge caused increase of strength and stiffness of tenon-and-mortise joints, and the increase was more evident when adhesive was used.
