국문 초록

교육철학을 공부하고 가르치는 사람으로서 오늘날 젊은이들인 소위 MZ세대에게 고대 플라톤의 세계관이 교육적으로 여전히 유효하다고 말하기란 쉽지 않다. 플라톤은 현재 우리가 사는 세계는 본질적인 어떤 세계의 반영일 뿐이며, 현세의 삶은 그 본질이자 진짜인 것을 끊임없이 추구해야 한다고 주장한다. 그러나 오늘날의 젊은이들이 현상의 배후나 초월적인 것에 관심을 둘 이유는 없어 보인다. 어린 시절부터 경쟁을 통해 생존 및 인정의 방식에 길들여지면서 열심히 노력해보기도 했지만 노력한 만큼 보상을 얻기도 힘들다는 삶의 문법을 체득한 젊은이들에게는 현재의 행복이 곧 ‘리얼’이기 때문이다. 그런데 오늘날 우리가 무언가를 추구하면서 ‘덕질’을 하는 것을 보면 ‘현재’를 즐기면서도 현실을 넘어선 어떤 세계관을 가정하고 싶은 독특한 특성이 엿보인다. 이 글은 이처럼 서브컬처나 B급 문화를 탐닉하는 세대의 문화적인 특성 및 세계관을 아즈마 히로키의 데이터베이스 소비 세대 분석을 통해 탐색한다. 이어 여기에 담긴 인간으로서의 욕망을 실존적 욕망으로 해석하고, 플라톤의 대화편 『프로타고라스』에 드러난 쾌락의 측량술에 따른 ‘좋은 삶’에 대한 추구와 이 욕망을 연결시켜 이해해보고자 한다. 그리하여 여전히 ‘더 가치로운 자아’가 되고 싶은 욕망을 가진 오늘날의 젊은 세대에게 이 측량술이 유효할 수 있을지 가늠하면서, 삶의 가치와 관련한 교육철학 가르치기에서 참조할 수 있는 지점을 제안한다.

영문 초록

As a person who studies and teaches the philosophy of education, it is difficult to tell the so-called MZ generation that ancient Plato’s ideas remain valid for education. Plato asserts the theory of Ideas, which is a philosophical concept according to which the world we live in today is merely a reflection of some essential world and that life in this world must constantly seek what is real and essential. However, there seems to be no reason for today’s young people to be interested in what lies behind this phenomenon or transcendence. This is because to today’s young people who have learned the grammars of life according to which it is difficult to have their hard work rewarded adequately, who are accustomed to the way of survival and recognition through competition since childhood, the present happiness is their reality. This is because it is real to be faithful to and enjoy the present. However, when seeing ourselves living in the present, following the behavior of Deokhu while pursuing something, we can see the unique desire of human beings to assume a worldview that surpasses reality while enjoying the present. This article explores the cultural characteristics and worldview of generations indulging in subculture or B-class culture through Azuma Hiroki s database consumption generation analysis. Furthermore, it attempts to interpret human desires as existential desires and to connect them to the pursuit of a good life according to Plato’s dialogue . Thus, while exploring whether this surveying technique can be valid for today s younger generation, which still desires to become a more valuable self, this article suggests a point that can be referred to in the teaching philosophy of education related to the value of life.
