화용론적 관점에서 본 일본어 동사의 명사화에 대한 일고찰

국문 초록

본 연구는 일본어 동사의 명사화를 대상으로 종래의 구문론적·형태론적 관점에서 탈피하여 의미론적·화용론적 관점에서 실제 일본어 모어화자의 발화장면에 등장하는 동 형식의 사용상황을 분석하여 문법적 정합성과 그 특징을 밝히고 있다. 일본어 동사를 명사화하는 방법은 크게 둘로 나눌 수 있어, 먼저 ‘もの’, ‘こと’, ‘の’ 등으로 대표되는 형식명사를 동사에 후속시키는 방법, 그리고 동사의 활용형 중 하나인 연용형을 사용하여 ‘연용형명사’를 만드는 방법을 들 수 있다. 전자는 동사가 조사 등과 결합하여 주어나 목적어 등의 문장 구성요소로서 기능할 수 있도록 하는 구문론적 조작이다. 이에 반해 후자는 상기한 바와 같은 구문론적 조작임과 동시에새로운 의미론적·화용론적 기능을 명사화된 동사에 부가하기 위한 조작으로도 규정할 수 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 연용형명사가 실제 발화장면에서 특정한 문법적 요소와의 결합을 통해 명사로서의 의미론적·구문론적 특징이 보다 현저히 발현됨을 지적함과 동시에 이때 작용하는 문법적 원리를 화용론적 측면에서 밝히고 있다.

영문 초록

This study focuses on the nominaiization of Japanese verbs, in doing so breaking away from the conventional syntactic and morphological perspectives, by examining the real world utterances of native Japanese speakers from the semantic and pragmatic perspectives. It analyzes the usage of the same formats across contexts and clarifies their grammatical consistency and characteristics. There are two main methods of nominalizing Japanese verbs. First, there is the method of following a verb with a formal noun represented by “koto”, “mono”, “no”, etc., and a form of conjugation of the verb. There is also the method of forming a “conjunctive noun” using a conjunctive form. The former is a syntactic operation that allows a verb to act as a component of a sentence, such as a subject or object, through its combination with a particle or other linguistic element. On the other hand, the latter is comprised of an operation that adds a new semantic and pragmatic function to a nominalized verb, even though it is a syntactic operation, as described above. Therefore, in this study, we point out that the semantic and syntactic features of a noun become more prominent when it is combined with a specific grammatical element in a real world speech act. It clarifies the grammatical principles that are at work in pragmatic contexts.
