국문 초록

1623년 7월, 趙濈은 吏曹參判으로서 冬至聖節使 겸 謝恩使로 명나라에 갔다. 조즙 사절단은 해로를 경유하고 燕京에 도착하였다. 조즙 일행은 渤海를 경유 登州에서 상륙한 후 육로로 연경에 드디어 도착하였다. 연경에 도착한 후 조즙은 선착한 奏請使 李慶全과 같이 명나라 예부, 병부등 관련 내각에 공문을 올림으로써 仁祖反正의 전말을 해명했고 신왕을 인정할 것도 청하였다. 결국 명나라 조정은 封典을 승낙했고 사신을 조선에 파견해 책봉을 하였다. 조즙은 지은 『癸亥水路朝天錄』은 조선과 명나라 간의 관계를 이해하는 原典資料 뿐만 아니라 동아시아 지역에서 통행한 朝貢貿易、封物進貢節次를 이해하는 중요한 자료이다. 조즙의 『燕行酬唱錄』중에 그와 주청사 이경전 일행 등 사신간의 酬唱詩를 수록했고 사행활동, 명나라 사회진상, 나그네의 향수 및 寫景詠物 등 내용을 포함하여 높은 문학적 가치를 지닌 문학작품이기도 한 것이다.

영문 초록

Cho Ji(趙濈) was nominated as Dongjisa(冬至使) and Sungjǒlsa(聖節使) and Saunsa(謝恩使), to be sent on a diplomatic mission to Ming Dynasty in July, 1623. His diplomatic corps got to Peking by sea-line, after crossed over the Bohai Sea and went ashore at Dengzhou. As soon as his arrival, he explained the whole story about the King Injo Restoration to the Ministry of Rites etc., with Lee Kyoung-Jun(李慶全), who was the messenger for asking instructions(Juchǒngsa,奏請使) had arrived earlier date. They presented the report and asked for legal ratification of the new king. The Ming royal court agreed to give seal at last, and sent diplomatic envoy to confer the title to Chosun. The work of Jocheonnok by Sea-line of Gyehae( 『癸亥水路朝天錄』), written by Cho Ji, is not only the first hand data for understanding relation between Chosun and Ming Dynasty, but also an important information for understanding the tributary trading and the paying sections in the East Asia at that time. His another work, Responding Poems in Peking( 『燕行酬唱錄』), records some poems spreading in the main envoys with Lee Kyoung-Jun. The poems reflects the diplomatic activities, social customs of Ming Dynasty, homesickness and object-chanting recollecting past memories with high literary value.
