예수의 성전정화 사건이 한국 개신교 교회에 주는 교훈

국문 초록

이 글의 목표는 예수의 성전정화 사건(막 11:11-15)이 한국 개신교 교회에 주는 교훈을 연구하는 것이다. 연구 결과 소위 예수의 청결사건은 구약의 예언자 전통을 이어받아 성전을 정화하려는 행동이며, 이 행동에 담긴 성전멸망에 관한 사상이 담겼다. 예수의 제의비판은 구약 예언자들의 제의비판에 근거하는데 예언자들은 제의와 윤리의 균형을 주장하면서 윤리정신이 담기지 않은 제의에 대하여 비판하였다. 예언자들이 비판한 것은 우상숭배와 바알신앙에 근거한 잘못된 신앙, 성전을 도둑의 소굴로 만드는 잘못된 성전신앙, 이웃을 향하여 공의와 정의를 행하지 않는 윤리 부재, 나아가서 성직자들이 지도자로서 본이 되지 못하고 하나님의 말씀이 아니 자기의 말을 전하며, 악의 기원이 되는 잘못을 범하는 것에 관한 것이다. 예언자 전승에 기초하여 예수께서는 성전에서 물건을 사는 자들과 파는 자들의 실제적인 상행위를 금하시고, 이행위들을 통하여 실제적인 이익을 취하는 제사장들과 종교 지도자들을 비판하신다. 한편으로는 예레미야의 비판에서 성전을 도둑의 소굴로 만드는 잘못된 예배를 비판하고 예배와 삶의 균형을 요구하신다. 동시에 성전이 멸망된 이후에 이루어질 보이지 않는 교회를 바라보면서 성전을 기도하는 집으로 정의하고, 유대인만이 아니라 이방인까지 포함하는 만민을 구성원으로 한다. 예수의 행동에 근거하여 현대 개신교를 향한 교훈으로는 성전으로 상징되는 제의에 대한 다음과 같은 비판이다: ① 교회는 본질에 충실한 거룩한 교회로서 기도하는 교회가 되어야한다. ② 교회는 만민으로 이루어진 차별 없는 공동체로서 하나가 되어야 한다. ③ 교회는 도둑의 소굴이라는 불명예를 극복하고 예배와 삶의 균형을 이루어야 한다. ④ 교회는 세상을 섬기는 사명을 이루기 위하여 개인적인 영역만이 아니라 공적인 영역에서 사명을 감당해야 한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this article is to provide the lessons of Jesus temple-cleansing event (Mark 11:11-15) to Korean Protestant Church. The findings show that the so-called cleansing of Jesus is an act of purifying the temple by inheriting the prophetic traditions of the Old Testament, and it contains ideas about temple destruction in the future. Jesus proposal was based on the proposal of old testament prophets, who criticized the sacrificial ritual without ethics spirit, arguing for the balance of ritual and ethics. What the prophets criticized was false faith based on idolatry and Baalism, false temple beliefs that turn temples into dens of thieves, and the lack of ethics that do justice and uprightness toward neighbors. Furthermore, it is about the clergy not being ideal as leaders, delivering their own words that do not come from God, and making mistakes that are the origin of evil. Based on the prophets’ criticisms, Jesus forbids the actual acts of those who buy and sell goods in the temple, and criticizes priests and religious leaders who take real benefits through these acts. On the one hand, Jeremiah criticizes the misguided worship that makes the temple a den of robbers and calls for a balance between worship and life. At the same time, he defined the temple as a prayer house while looking at the invisible church that will take place after the temple is destroyed, and make all people members of the church, including Gentiles as well as Jews. Based on Jesus actions, the lesson for Korean Protestant Church is the following criticism of the religious system, symbolized by the temple: 1) The Church should be a house of prayer as a holy church faithful to its essence. 2) The Church should be united as a discrimination-free community of all people. 3) The Church must overcome the disgrace of being a den of robbers and balance worship and life. 4) The Church must take on its mission to serve the world not only in the personal realm, but also in the public sphere.
