여성독립운동 회고록의 현황과 사료적 가치

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 여성독립운동 회고록의 현황을 소개하고 그 사료적 가치를분석하여 여성독립운동사 연구의 전망과 과제를 밝히는 것에 있다. 이 연구는독립운동에 직간접적으로 참여한 여성들이 남긴 회고록 성격의 글을 독립운동계열을 기준으로 분류하여, 회고록에 관한 정보를 소개하고 특기할 내용을 중심으로 분석하여 사료적 가치를 규명하고자 하였다. 자서전과 수기류는 물론이고구술을 바탕으로 한 전기, 신문과 잡지에 실린 회고 성격의 글도 포함하였다. 회고록을 남긴 여성들은 어머니와 딸의 세대에 걸쳐 있으며 출생연도에 30년정도 차이가 있다. 근대교육을 받은 여성 엘리트, 전통적인 양반가 출신과 직업교육을 받은 평민 출신도 있었으며 이들은 독립운동가의 가족구성원으로 아내, 며느리, 딸의 위치에서 회고를 남겼다. 여성들은 가부장적인 규범 속에서 살아갔다. 이들에게는 남성에게 강요되지 않던 집안일 등이 당연히 부과되었고 군대에서 활동하던 여성들에게는 세탁, 바느질 등이 자연스럽게 부여되었다. 여성들은 독립운동가 남편의 부재 속에서 공장노동, 농사일 등을 하면서 가족의 생계를 책임졌고 가사 노동, 노인 부양, 육아 등 가사를 전담하였다. 여성의 이러한 노동과 생활이 자세히 담겨 있는 여성회고록은 단체, 노선, 의열투쟁 중심으로 서술된 독립운동을 통해 다가갈 수 없던 생활의 영역을 보여주어 독립운동연구를확장할 수 있도록 한다. 또 여성들이 겪은 성적 긴장과 갈등과 이에 대한 대응을통하여 그간 몰성적으로 인식되었던 독립운동을 젠더사적으로 해석할 가능성을가늠할 수 있다. 여성독립운동에 관한 회고록을 통하여 기여사·공헌사의 견지에서 여성의 역할을 규명하는 연구에서 나아가 여성독립운동을 다시 음미하는 기회를 가져볼수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

In this study, the historical value of the memoir was identified by classifying the memoir-like writings left by women who directly or indirectly participated in the independence movement based on the series of the independence movement, introducing information about the memoir, and analyzing the contents to be noted. We analyzed autobiography, memoirs, biography based on oral history, and memoirs in newspapers. Women who left memoirs have various aspects. The age range is about 30 years apart, so it spans the generations of mothers and daughters. As members of the independence activist family, people who left a retrospective as wives, daughter-in-law, and daughters, elite women with modern education, traditional aristocrats, and commoners who received vocational education. left a memoir. They lived within a common patriarchal sexual norm and were forced to do women’s work, such as household chores, which were not imposed on men. Women who served in the military were given roles as women, such as laundry and sewing. In the absence of their husbands, women, who were members of the independence activists’ families, were responsible for the family’s livelihood while working in factories and farming. Women’s memoirs containing these women’s experiences give daily life to the existing independence movement centered on groups, lines, and fierce struggles, so that the field of research can be expanded. In addition, the sexual tension and conflict experienced by women independence activists and their responses were examined to examine the possibility of interpreting the independence movement, which has been perceived as gender-blind, in a gender-historical way. Through the memoirs on the women’s independence movement, it will be possible to have an opportunity to appreciate the independence movement again in the study that identified the various contributions and roles of women from the perspective of the history of contribution.
