국문 초록

단체관광에서 개별관광으로 관광 방식이 변화하고 관광의 대상이 확장되면서 관광목적지로서 도시에 대한 관심이 점점 높아지고 있다. 동시에 도시라는 공간이 지닌 복합성과 다차원성으로 인해 관광학 측면에서 통합적이고 체계적인 분석은 갈수록 어려워지고 있다. 본 연구는 관광객의 근원적 욕구인 진정성 추구라는 측면에서 도시관광을 분석하고자 하였다. 특히 진정성의 다양한 유형 가운데 구성적 진정성은 진정성을 탈근대적 관점에서 재해석한 개념으로서 도시관광과 같은 현대적 관광을 이해하는데 적합한 틀로 판단되었다. 본 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 대표적인 도시관광목적지 가운데 하나인 일본 오사카를 방문한 경험이 있는 한국인 관광객을 대상으로 심층면접 및 설문조사를 실시하였고 이들이 인식하는 도시관광의 구성적 진정성의 세부차원을 도출해 유효화하였다. 연구 결과, 한국인 관광객이 일본 오사카에서 경험한 도시관광의 구성적 진정성은 지역성, 일상성, 미디어성, 시간성의 4가지 차원으로 구성된 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 관광학 및 관광산업과 관련된 세 가지의 시사점을 갖는다. 첫째, 도시관광에 대한 구성적 진정성의 세부구조를 파악하였다. 둘째, 진정성이 현대관광을 이해하기 위한 유효한 분석틀로서 여전히 가치를 갖는다는 것을 확인하였다. 셋째, 도시관광에서 도시민과 관광객의 조화를 통한 지속가능한 관광이 중요하다는 사실을 함축적으로 보여준다.

영문 초록

Despite the growing importance of urban tourism, an integrating and systematic analysis of urban tourism is still insufficient due to the complex and multifaceted nature of urban environments. This study employs the concept of authenticity, one of the most actively discussed concepts in tourism studies for last few decades, to understand urban tourism. In particular, constructive authenticity, which contains the postmodern perspective, is used as an analytic framework to identify the diverse meanings urban tourists assign. We conducted interviews and surveys with Korean FITs who had traveled to Osaka, Japan to develop a scale of constructive authenticity in urban tourism. Osaka was selected as a research site because it was known as one of the most visited urban destination among Korean tourists. Exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were used to identify and validate sub-dimensions of constructive authenticity in the context of urban tourism. The results show that respondents experienced four dimensions of constructive authenticity, namely, local authenticity, daily authenticity, media authenticity, and temporal authenticity, while traveling the urban area. Based on these results, we conclude that the coexistence between urban residents and tourists is the most crucial in sustainable management of urban tourism and that the concept of authenticity is still a valid tool for analyzing contemporary tourism phenomena.
