국문 초록

우주의 역사 안에서 자연발생적 새로움과 지구상의 생명체를 관찰하면서, 신학자들은 이 새로움에 대한 신학적 감각을 창조 행위의 관점에서 숙고할 가능성을 제기했다. 이에 대한 응답으로 1970년대 이후로 연속 창조 개념이 개발되어왔다. 그리스도인의 관점에서 창조에 대한 모든 사유는 필연적으로 ‘무로부터의 창조’ 개념과 연결해서 사유해야 한다. 테이야르 드 샤르댕(Pierre Teilhard de Chardin)은 창조가 사물들을 관계로 엮어(“creare uniri unire creari”) 복잡성을 증대시키면서 이루어진다고 보았다. 관계의 부재는 테이야르가 ‘창조적인 무(無)’라고 일컬은 것이며, 이것은 ‘무’(無)를 사유하는 이 방식에서부터 ‘무로부터의 창조’ 개념을 재검토하도록 초대한다. 테이야르는 연속 창조(continuous creation)에 대해 말하지 않았다. 그것은 그에게 있어 창조가 연속 작업인 것이 자명했기 때문이다. 신 플라톤주의적 신학 전통은 무를 존재의 초과(excess of being) 또는 존재의 탁월함으로 간주했다. 이 접근 방식은 연속 창조가 한처음에, 또는 시작부터 시작까지 무로부터의 창조의 참된 산물이라고 보는 사유 방식과도 관련이 있어 보인다.

영문 초록

By observing natural novelty in the history of the cosmos and of life on earth, the theologian questions the possibility of thinking the theological sense of this novelty in terms of the creative act. It is in response to this question that the concept of continuous creation has been developed since the 1970s. From a Christian perspective, it is necessary to articulate all the thoughts of creation with the concept of creation ex nihilo. For Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, creation is achieved by bringing things together in relationship (“creare uniri unire creari”) and increasing complexity. The absence of a relationship is what Teilhard calls “creative nil”. This invites us to revisit the concept of creation ex nihilo from this way of thinking the “nothingness”. Teilhard does not speak of continuous creation because it is obvious to him that creation is a continued work. For its part, the Neoplatonic theological tradition considers nothingness as excess of being or supereminence of being. It seems that this approach is also relevant to think of a continuous creation that is truly the product of a creation ex nihilo in the beginning, or from beginning to beginning.
