국문 초록

현재 한국 사회가 직면한 다양한 문제들과 위기를 극복하기 위해서는 사회변화를 주체적으로 이끌어갈 성숙한 시민양성이 시급하다. 한국 교회는 예수의 올바른 제자를 양성함으로써 사회에 기여하고자 노력해 왔으나, 제자훈련이나 영성훈련이 개인적 영성이나 도덕적 삶에 치중함으로써 사회변화를 이끌어 갈 책임 있는 기독교 시민을 양성하는데 한계가 있어 왔다. 기독교인 개개인은 한 사회의 구성원으로서 책임 있는 시민이자 올바른 예수의 제자로 성장해야 하며, 기독교교육은 이러한 시민적 역량과 제자적 소명을 형성하도록 교육해야 한다. 본 논문은 기독교 시민교육의 교육신학적 토대를 마련하고자 과정신학을 신학적 토대로 삼아 하나님, 인간, 세계, 교회, 교육에 대한 재개념화를 시도한다. 먼저 하나님은 기존 질서의 옹호자가 아니라 창조적 변혁자이며, 인류의 공동선과 행복을 위해 인간을 설득하고 사랑으로 이끄시는 분이다. 둘째, 인간은 하나님과 공동 창조자로서 자유, 창조성, 책임을 지닌 존재이며, 기독교인은 하나님의 최초의 목적과 완전한 조화를 이루며 살아간 예수의 길을 따르도록 부름 받은 존재이다. 셋째, 세상은 하나님과 인간이 공동 창조를 이루어가는 장으로서 세상의 악에 대해 인간은 공동의 책임의식을 갖고 변혁을 위해 노력해야 한다. 넷째, 교회는 진리를 소유한 공동체가 아니라 진리를 추구하는 공동체로서 끊임없이 진리를 추구하고 공동체적 신앙고백과 실천을 이루어가야 한다. 마지막으로 교육은 진리추구의 과정으로서 기독교인들이 현실을 비판적으로 성찰하고 열린 대화와 합리적인 의사소통을 통해 지속적으로 진리를 추구하도록 하는 것이다. 이러한 교육신학적 토대를 가지고 기독교 시민교육은 기독교인들이 개인이나 집단의 이익을 넘어서서 공동체 전체의 공동선과 행복을 추구하여 궁극적으로 하나님 나라의 희망을 실현하도록 해야 한다.

영문 초록

The various problems and crises Korean society faces today have made the need to foster responsible and mature citizens who will lead social change more urgent. Korean churches have been trying to contribute to society by cultivating the right disciples of Jesus. However, there are limitations to nurturing responsible Christian citizens that can lead social change by focusing solely on individual spirituality or moral life. Each Christian should grow up to be a responsible citizen and a right disciple of Jesus as a member of society. Christian citizenship education should be taught to shape both citizenship and discipleship. In order to lay the theological foundation of Christian citizenship education, this article attempts to re-conceptualize God, human being, world, church, and education, by using process theology as theological basis.Firstly, God is not the Sanctioner of the existing order, but the Creative Transformer. God persuades and leads human beings for the common good and happiness of all humankind. Secondly, human beings are co-creators of God and have freedom, creativity, and responsibility. Christians are called upon to follow the path of Jesus, who lived in perfect harmony with God s initial aim. Thirdly, the world is a place for God and human beings to co-create. For the evil that exists in the world, human beings must strive for transformation using the common sense of responsibility. Fourth, the church should constantly pursue the truth, and needs to confess and practice communal faith. Finally, education is a process of truth-seeking, in which Christians critically reflect on reality and continue to pursue the truth through open dialogue and rational communication. With this theological foundation, Christian citizenship education should allow Christians to pursue the common good and happiness of the whole community, beyond the interests of individuals or groups, to ultimately realize the hope of the Kingdom of God.
