여행하는 인간(Homo Viator)과 기독교영성교육

국문 초록

현대인들은 전지구적으로 위험 요소들이 가득한 사회 속에서 정주할 곳을 찾지 못하고 내적, 외적으로 방황하며 살아가고 있다. 이에 연구자는 현대의 기독교인들에게 필요한 기독교영성교육을 여행적 관점에서 살펴봄으로써 신앙인 개인과 신앙공동체의 신앙적 여정을 돕고자 한다. 이를 위하여 먼저 몇 가지 규정하였다. 첫째, 인간의 정체성을 여행하는 인간(homo viator)으로 보고, 인류의 역사를 정주하지 못하는 떠남의 역사로, 인간발달을 성장과 성숙을 향한 인간의 부단한 이동의 과정으로 간주하였다. 그리고 기독교영성을 신앙적 성숙을 지향하는 삼위일체 하나님에 대한 체험이자 세상 속에서 삼위일체 하나님과 연합된 삶의 실천으로 보고, 성경과 기독교 역사 역시 신앙적 성숙을 향한 끊임없는 내적, 외적 여정임을 명확히 하였다. 그리하여 여행적 관점에서 본 신앙인의 삶의 여정 또는 삶의 여행계획서를 개혁교회 전통의 언어인 신앙 여정의 시작을 지칭하는 ‘칭의’, 신앙 여정의 과정으로서의 ‘성화’ 그리고 신앙여정의 종착점인 ‘영화’의 과정으로 정리하였다. 또한 신앙발달과 삶의 여정에 담긴 정체성 형성에 관해 연구한 파울러, 사회적 관계망의 확산으로서의 세계화에 대하여 연구한 오스머, 연속성과 불연속성에 담긴 신앙의 초월성에 관하여 연구한 로더의 연구를 통해 여행하는 인간의 통전적인 신앙여정을 정체성, 개방성, 초월성의 세 차원으로 나타내었다. 그리고 이러한 논의를 통하여 여행하는 인간의 신앙발달을 생애주기로 조망하여 준비, 떠남, 만남, 채움, 맞춤, 나눔, 비움, 돌아옴이라는 여덟 가지 단계의 여행으로서의 발달단계별 특성을 제시하였다. 여행하는 인간을 위한 기독교 영성교육은 신앙의 정체성, 세상에 대한 개방성과 헌신 그리고 결국은 하나님 나라와 초월을 지향하는 교육을 의미한다. 이를 구현하기 위한 기독교영성교육은 인간의 전 생에 걸쳐 각 주기별로 이루어지는 ‘시간여행’을 의미하며, 동시에 자아에서 세계로 인식과 참여, 헌신의 실천이 확장되어가는 ‘공간여행’을 의미한다. 그리고 이러한 여정은 영원한 고향을 찾아가는 초월적 여정이며 동시에 하나님과의 연합과 일치를 추구하는 ‘영적 여행’을 의미한다. 전지구적 위험과 교회안팎의 위기 속에서 시급히 요청되는 기독교영성교육은 여행하는 인간으로서의 신앙인 개인과 공동체가 정체성, 개방성, 초월성을 함양하는 시간 여행, 공간 여행, 영적 여행을 지속할 수 있도록 지지하고 지원하는 교육이 되어야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

Today, people live and experience both inner and outward wandering. They are unable to find a place to settle in the world full of global risks. This research endeavors to try and help the Christian individuals and communities within their journeys of faith by looking at Christian spiritual education for con-temporary Christians within this context. To support this, I have classified these into several parts. First, Human identity is defined as a homo viator, regarding human history as a history of leaving and human development as a process of continual movement toward growth and maturity. Second, Christian spirituality is regarded as the experience of the Trinity of God in faithful maturity and practice with the Trinity of God in the world. Also, I clarify Biblical and Christian history as an incessant journey towards maturity. Thusly, I have expressed a journey(or itinerary) of Christian life in the Christian reformed language: ‘justification’(start of jour-ney), ‘sanctification’(process of journey), and ‘glorification’(end of journey). I also describe the Christian life journey as “homo viator” within its three dimensions. Among Christian educators, I chose from the following scholars for these three dimensional approaches: James Fowler, Richard Osmer and James Loder. From my own perspective, I name their approaches as a re-search of identity, openness, transcendence respectively. Based on the above discussion, I suggest8 stages: preparing, leaving, meeting, filling, tuning, sharing, emptying, and returning. These are the lifetime developments of homo viator. Christian spiritual education for homo viator is aiming for the identity of the Christian faith, openness and devotion for the world, and ultimately, the kingdom of God and its tran-scendence. To realize these, this study suggests that Christian spiritual education means ‘time journey’ as the life cycle devel-ops, ‘space journey’ as one expands one’s awareness, partic-ipation and devotion from oneself to the world, and ‘spiritual journey’ as God unites with human beings. All these journeys originate from the Ultimate Source, i. e. God. Christian spiritual education should be able to support Christians as human in-dividuals and communities, to continue the time journey, space journey, and spiritual journey to cultivate their identity, open-ness, and transcendence in this risky world.
