기독교 청소년 교육에 대한 창조적 성찰

국문 초록

청소년은 10년 뒤 미래의 모습이며 교회의 모습이다. 그러나 오늘날 우리 한국의 청소년들은 행복만족도는 4년 연속 OECD대상 조사국가에서 최하위 점수를 받았다. 청소년 자살률 세계 1위라는 불행한 현실과 개신교의 교인 감소에서 청소년기의 감소가 그 비율의 많은 부분은 차지하고 있음을 본다면 청소년에 대한 관심과 청소년교육에 대한 성찰은 기독교교육에서 시급한 일이라 할 수 있다. 이러한 맥락에서 본 논문은 오늘날 청소년들이 직면하고 있는 심리적 발달적 가정적 종교적 상황의 측면들을 통하여 그들이 안고 있는 문제가 무엇인지를 진단하였다. 심리적 문제로서는 오늘날 청소년들이 2주이상 생활을 지속할 수 없을 만큼 심각한 우울감을 경험하는 것이 30% 이상이 된다는 것과 자살충동에 시달리는 것도 10명중 1명이라는 심각한 정신적 불안정 상태에 있는 것을 진단하였다. 가정적 문제에 있어서는 부모와의 소통의 부재가 학년이 올라갈수록 심각해지고 있으며 종교적 문제에 있어서는 교회가 그들의 영적인 고민들에 대하여 답을 주지 못하고 있다는 청소년이 50%가 넘다는 조사보고를 통하여 오늘날 교회와 기독교교육과 청소년사이의 괴리를 살펴보았다. 청소년교육에 대한 비판적 성찰과 창조적 대안을 제시하기 위하여 청소년들이 지니는 발달적 특징을 사회심리적, 인지적, 도덕적, 신앙적, 뇌과학적 차원의 관점에서 살펴보았다. 이를 통하여 기독교교육이 창조적인 기독교청소년교육을 설계하고 실천하기 위한 몇 가지 대안들을 제시하였다. 첫째, 청소년 교육에 대한 전문성과 체계성을 확보해야 한다는 것이며 둘째, 참여와 소통을 통해 청소년들이 자기주도적으로 기독교교육에 참여할 수 있도록 돕는 교육을 설계한다는 점이다. 셋째, 통전적 영성과 건전한 시민의식이 통합되어어 신앙과 일상의 삶이 통합되는 교육을 설계해야 하며 넷째, 기독교 청소년교육이 지향하는 가치에 대한 근본적인 성찰이 필요하다는 점을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

Current youths’ image is our future image as well as our church’s image ten years later. However it is sad to report that the self satisfaction level of Korea’s youths is the lowest of 23 nations which belong to OECD. We are the nation that has number one rate of youths’ suicide not to mention that we are being challenged by the lowest birth rate and diminishing number of adult believers in the church. Therefore it is urgent to reflect what we are doing in terms of youth ministry and how we are educating our youths. In this line of concern this paper looks at psychological and various phases of religious developmental issues that our youths are facing today and diagnoses the possible problems today’s youths might suffer from. As far as the psychological problems today’s youths lie in the very shaky ground that almost thirty percent of them suffer from depression and ten percent of them constantly feel psychologically unstable that they are wanting to commit suicide. Many of them do not communicate with their parents in family at all and it is getting worse every year, and the report says that more than fifty percent of all youths feel that the church is inapt to provide answers to their spiritual questions. This report helps us to look at the huge gap between youths and current Christian education endeavor. In order to present critical reflections and creative alternatives, our youths’ characteristics are dealt with psycho-social, cognitive, moral, faith and brain science perspectives. Then several suggestions are presented as a result: first, we need to earn systematic professionalism on youth education; second, through communication and participation we need to design education that allows youth to participate in Christian education with self directed willingness; third, by uniting healthy civil consciousness and wholistic spirituality we need to design educational curriculum which can enable and unite both faith and everyday life matters; fourth, we need to deeply reflect more on the basic values that Christian youths must follow in their life.
