국문 초록

본 연구는 기독교교육학의 정체성에 근거하여 오늘날 기독교교육과의 커리큘럼을 진단하고 새로운 기독교교육과 커리큘럼의 방향을 제시하기 위한 것이다. 본 연구는 세 가지 연구질문을 가진다. 첫째, 기독교교육과 커리큘럼이 기독교교육학의 학문적 정체성에 부합하는가? 둘째, 기독교교육과 커리큘럼이 기독교교육학의 하위영역을 제대로 반영하고 있는가? 셋째, 기독교교육과 커리큘럼이 종교교육학과 구별된 기독교교육학의 특수성을 바르게 반영하고 있는가? 먼저 기독교교육학의 학문적 정체성은 크게 기독교교육학을 신학의 한 하위영역으로 이해하는 입장과 사회과학 또는 교육학의 한 하위영역으로 이해하는 입장이 있는데, 본 논문에서는 이 두 입장을 통합하면서 ‘하나님의 교육’을 추구하는 기독교교육학의 정체성에 근거하여 기독교교육과 커리큘럼을 진단하였다. 또한 기독교교육학의 하위영역은 기독교교육기초학과 기독교교육실천학으로 크게 분류하고, 기독교교육기초학은 교육신학, 기독교교육철학, 기독교교육사학, 기독교교육심리학, 기독교교육사회학, 그리고 기독교교육학방법론으로 구분하고, 기독교교육실천학은 기능별, 발달단계별, 장별로 분류하였다. 또한 기독교교육학의 특수성은 종교교육이 아닌 기독교교육을 어느 정도 다루는지를 파악하였다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 기준에 따라 세 개의 신학대학교 기독교교육과의 커리큘럼을 진단하였는데, 그 결과 기독교교육과의 커리큘럼이 신학 또는 교육학이 통합되기보다는 각각 강조하는 경향이 있음과 통일된 관점을 제공하기보다는 열거식임을 알 수 있었다. 또한 기독교교육학의 하위영역이 모두 포함되지 않고 있고, 기독교교육과 종교교육이 혼합되어 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 한계를 극복하는 기독교교육과의 커리큘럼이 요청된다고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

The aim of this study is to analyze the curriculum of Christian education departments in Korea on the basis of the identity of Christian education, and to propose a new direction for the curriculum of Christian education departments. This study includes three research questions; 1) Is the curriculum of the Christian education department relevant to the academic identity of Christian education? 2) Does the curriculum of the department fully represent all the subcategories of Christian education? 3) Does the curriculum of the department represent the particularity of Christian education, differentiating it from religious education? Generally, there are two ways of understanding the academic identity of Christian education: one is an approach that emphasizes the theological aspect of Christian education, and the other is one that emphasizes Christian education as a discipline of the social sciences. The academic identity of Christian education in this study is built up by integrating these two approaches, and analyzes the curriculum of Christian education departments in light of a ‘pedagogy of God.’ The subcategories of Christian education dealt with in this study are grouped into two categories. One is the foundational science of Christian education which includes theology of Christian education, philosophy of Christian education, psychology of Christian education, sociology of Christian education and methodology of Christian education. The other is the science of Christian education in practice, which includes classification by function, developmental stage, and context. The particularity of Christian education can be found in the use of ‘Christian education’ rather than ‘religious education’ as the title of subjects in the Christian education curriculum. This study analyses the curriculum of Christian education departments in three theological seminaries in Korea on the basis of these criteria. The study finds that the curriculum of Christian education departments has a tendency to emphasize either theology or education, rather than integrating the two. Also, the curriculum does not include all subcategories of Christian education. There is little consistency in emphasizing Christian education rather than general religious education. In conclusion, this study proposes a new curriculum direction for Christian education departments which can overcome these limitations.
