국문 초록

연구목적: 일반적인 재무적 성과가 아닌 환경적 가치 추구에 초점을 두고, 프로세스 효과성 제고를 위한 운영적 측면의 관리 노력(체계적 품질관리 및 지속적 개선 활동)이 환경성과에 미치는 영향을 탐구한다. 나아가 작업자의 발언행동에 주목함으로써, 제도적 조치(체계적 품질관리)와 현장에서의 실천적 행동(지속적 개선 활동)간 관계를 보다 명확하게 이해하는 데 있어 현장 작업자의 역할을 고려한다. 논문구성/논리: 본 연구는 5개의 장으로 구성되어 있다. 1장 서론에서는 연구의 동기 및 목적에 대하여 기술하였다. 2장은 문헌연구를 토대로 이론적 근거를 검토한 뒤 연구가설을 제시하였다. 3장에서는 연구 자료 및 측정의 타당성 등, 자세한 연구방법을 기술하였고, 4장은 실증 분석 및 가설검정 결과를 제시하였다. 5장에서는 본 연구의 시사점 및 한계점과 함께 향후 연구 방향을 논의하였다. 결과: 2013년 생산성 본부 산하의 생산성 연구소가 실시한 제조업 생산성 패널조사를 바탕으로 연구를 진행하였고, 총 578개의 관측치를 활용하여 실증 분석을 수행했다. 분석 결과, 체계적 품질관리 수준과 지속적 개선 활동 모두 기업의 환경성과에 통계적으로 유의한 양의 영향을 미치는 것으로 드러났다. 또한, 체계적 품질관리와 지속적 개선 활동 사이에도 긍정적 영향 관계가 존재하며, 현장 작업자의 적극적인 발언행동은 이들 관계에 시너지 효과를 일으킨다. 독창성/가치: 본 연구는 체계적 품질관리 및 지속적 개선 활동이 기업의 환경성과에 미치는 영향을 고려하고 있는데, 이는 재무 및 운영성과에만 집중하던 기존의 관점을 환경성과로 확장하고 있다. 또한, 품질관리의 체계화 및 지속적 개선 활동이 기업의 환경적 성과로 드러나는 매커니즘을 분석하는 데 있어 인적자원관리의 관심 요소인 작업자 발언행동을 고려함으로써 연구의 지평을 넓히고자 하였다.

영문 초록

Purpose: We explore the relationship between systematic quality management and environmental performance, focusing on seeking environmental value rather than financial performance. Furthermore, we provide insight into how systematic quality management is connected to the improvement of environmental performance. Focusing on the pivotal role of the worker’s dedication and attitude, we present a distinctive perspective from prior research. Composition/Logic: This research consists of five sections. In Section 1, we discuss our research motivation and objectives. Section 2 provides a literature review and research hypotheses with theoretical foundations. Then, we describe research data and check their validation in Section 3 and provide analysis results for hypotheses testing in Section 4. Finally, Section 5 suggests contributions and limitations and further discusses opportunities for future research. Findings: We conduct our research using manufacturing productivity survey data obtained by the Korea Productivity Center in 2013, and the number of observations of the data is 578. We observe that the systematic quality management and continuous improvement positively influenced a firm’s environmental performance and, in this relationship, the workers’ active voice behavior strengthened the firm’s environmental performance. Originality/Value: This research extends the view of operational and financial performance to environmental performance in the area of systematic quality management and continuous improvement. Indeed, workers’ voice behavior, a concept of human resource management, plays a pivotal role in improving a firm’s continuous improvement in conjunction with systematic quality management and can thus assist to improve a firm’s environmental performance.
