국문 초록

보조공학은 2000년 이후부터 관심이 꾸준히 증가하고 있는 분야로 장애인의 일상생활, 교육, 고용 등 모든 생활영역에서의 자립을 향상시켜 장애인의 자립과 삶의 질 향상에 많은 영향을 주고 있으며, 특히 장애인의 직업 안정과 고용증진에 도움이 된다. 그러나 미국의 제도 및 현황들과 비교해 볼 때 제도적, 학문적 기반이 약하고, 관심과 보조공학 서비스를 위한 인력도 매우 부족한 것이 현실이다. 본 연구에서는 2004년 설립된 한국장애인고용촉진공단 보조공학센터를 중심으로 국내 보조공학 서비스와 인력 현황을 미국의 사례와 비교 고찰하면서 직장환경에서의 보조공학 서비스 인력의 역할 그리고 장애인 고용을 위한 발전 방향을 제시하였다. 향후 직장환경에서 보조공학을 활성화하기 위해서는 학회를 통한 학문적인 발전과 직장 환경에서의 보조 공학 서비스 및 전문 인력 양성에 대한 근원적인 법적 제도 마련이 필요하며, 이러한 과정을 통해 장애인의 직무 수행에 도움이 될 수 있도록 지속적인 관심과 투자가 요구된다.

영문 초록

Assistive technology has been gaining consistent attention since year 2000 and had a significant impact on independence and quality of lives of people with disabilities in all aspects including daily lives, education, and employment. In particular, it has contributed to job security and employment improvement of the disabled. However, compared to institution and current status of the U.S. in terms of assistive technology, Korea has weaker institutional and academic foundation and attentions and related personnel are also insufficient. This research is to compare Korea s assistive technology service and personnel situation centering on Assistive Technology Center under Korea Employment Promotion Agency for the Disabled, which was built in 2004 with the U.S. cases and to present roles of assistive technology service providers in the workplace and development strategies for enhancing disability employment. In order to accelerate the use of assistive technology in the working environment in the future, academic development through academic institution is required. At the same time, legal foundation for using assistive technology and nurturing professional personnel in this area should be laid. In addition to these efforts, constant attentions and investment are imperative to help the disabled perform jobs more conveniently.
