중복장애학생 관련 최근 국외(미국) 연구 동향

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 중복장애학생과 관련된 국외(미국)연구의 동향(학술지 및 시기별 동향, 일반적인 특성 동향, 연구 주제에 따른 동향)을 분석하고 이를 토대로 향후 이 영역의 연구를 위한 핵심 아이디어와 기초자료를 수집하는데 있다. 이를 위하여 1997년부터 2011년 3월까지의 국외(미국) 학술지에 게재된 연구물 중에서 선정기준에 맞는 51편의 연구물을 최종 분석대상으로 삼았다. 이 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 분석논문의 학회지 및 시기별 동향을 살펴보면 Perceptual and Motor skills의 학술지에 서 가장 많은 11편(21.6%)의 연구물이 발표 되었고, 2007년에 가장 많은 8편(15.7%)의 연구물이 발표되었음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 일반적인 특성 동향을 살펴보면 2명을 대상으로 연구한 연구물이 19편(37.3%)으로 가장 많았고, 대상 연령은 만6세~만11세를 대상으로 한 연구물이 23편(45.1%)으로 가장 많았으며, 연구대상의 장애 특성은 뇌성마비와 정신지체를 중복으로 있는 대상자를 대상으로 한 연구물이 8편(15.7%)으로 가장 많은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 연구주제별 특성을 살펴보면 기능적 생활기술과 관련된 연구는 총 51편의 연구물 중에서 2편(3.9%)에 불과하였고, 상호작용과 관련한 연구물은 2편(3.9%), 의사소통과 관련된 연구물 13편(26%), 감각-운동과 관련된 연구물은 17편(33.3%), 인지-학업과 관련된 연구물은 12편(23.5%), 기타로 분류된 연구물은 5편(9.8%)으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 향후 연구과제 및 방향을 제시하면 첫째, 중복장애학생의 다양성과 이질성에 기초한 다양한 연구가 필요하고 둘째, 생태학적 관점을 바탕으로 하는 연구가 필요하며 셋째, 중복장애학생의 의사소통능력 향상과 관련한 연구가 필요하며 넷째, 인지-학업적 접근의 연구가 필요하다고 할 수 있다. 아울러 이 연구의 결과는 향후 중복장애 교육과 관련한 활발한 후속 연구를 위한 작은 도전 과제를 마련하였다는 점에서 연구의 의의를 찾을 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The purposes of this study were to analyze overseas (United States) research on students with multiple disabilities according to trends in journals and periods,general characteristics, and research topics, and to collect core ideas and basic data for future research papers. For those purposes, the study selected 51research papers, which were published in overseas (United States) journals from 1997 to March 2010 and met the selection criteria, for final analysis. The research findings were as follows:First, the papers were analyzed according to trends in journals and periods. The results show that research papers on perceptual and motor skills were the most numerous at 11 (21.6%) and that the year of 2007 saw the most papers published at eight (15.7%). Secondly, as for general characteristics, papers with two subjects were the most numerous at 19 (37.3%); papers whose subjects were elementary school students aged from 6 to 11 were the most numerous at 23(45.1%); and papers whose subjects suffered both cerebral palsy and mental retardation were the most numerous at eight (15.7%). Finally, of a total of 51papers, only two (3.9%) covered the research topics related to functional life skills; also only two (3.9%) covered interactions; 13 (26%) covered the communication of students with multiple disabilities; 17 (33.3%) covered sensory-motor skills; 12 (23.5%) covered cognitive-study skills; and five (9.8%)covered other research topics. Based on the findings, the following research tasks and directions were suggested for future study: first, there should be a variety of research papers based on the diversity and heterogeneity of students with multiple disabilities;secondly, there should be research done from an ecological perspective; thirdly,there should be research done on the improvement of communication skills of students with multiple disabilities; and finally, there should be research with a cognitive-study approach. The study claims its significance in that the findings present a small challenging task for active follow-up papers on education for students with multiple disabilities.
