지체장애 대학생을 위한 도우미 지원 운영에 대한 사례연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 대학에서 장애학생을 위한 도우미 운영이 어떻게 이루어지고 있으며, 도우미 지원 운영에 대해 지체장애 대학생과 도우미들이 어떻게 인식하는지에 대해 살펴보았다. 본 연구는 질적 사례연구로서, K지역 대학의 뇌성마비 대학생과 4명의 도우미를 참여자로 하여, 도우미 서비스가 어떻게 운영되고 있는지를 구체적으로 살펴보았다. 연구 결과, 도우미들은 이동지원, 수업준비지원, 생활지원을 제공하고 있었지만, 도우미 역할의 가장 중심이라 할 수 있는 실제적인 교수·학습지원은 제대로 운영되고 있지 못한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 교수·학습지원이 제대로 운영되고 있지 못한 이유는, 대학의 장애학생 도우미 제도에 대한 인식 부족, 장애대학생과 도우미를 위한 사전교육 부재, 도우미의 역할 범위에 대한 이해부족으로 장애학생에게 적절한 지원을 제공해 주지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는, 장애 대학생에 대한 지원체계가 제대로 마련되어 있지 못한 대학들이 앞으로 도우미 지원 제도를 운영하면서 장애대학생과 도우미의 인식과 경험에 기반하여 운영할 필요가 있음을 시사해 주고 있다.

영문 초록

This study investigated how an assistant system was implemented for a university student with a disability, and the study included the student with a physical disability and his four assistants who were enrolled in a 4-year university located in K area. The study is a case study, and the number of the enrolled students at the university is below 3,000 students, and the university was established before less than 15 years. The student with a physical disability entered the university and requested the assistants for himself. Thus, four assistants who provided assistance participated in the study. In the results of the study, the assistants provided supports related mobility, preparation of classes,and home life. However, the support for instruction and learning was not well implemented although this type of support in one of the most important roles provided by assistants. The possible reasons of the less enough instruction and learning support are the university s low perception regarding the assistants system, the absence of the orientation for the assistants by the university, and the assistants low perception regarding their roles. The study suggested that universities which do not currently have robust assistant systems need to consider the experiences of students with disabilities and the assistants for the better management of the assistant system.
