손짓기호체계와 그림의사소통판을 이용한 의사소통 중재가 중도뇌성마비학생의 의사소통 능력에 미치는 효과

국문 초록

본 연구는 손짓기호체계(manual sign system)와 그림의사소통판을 이용한 의사소통 중재가 중도장애학생의 의사소통 능력에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알아보고자 하였다. 연구는 구어를 사용하여 의사소통을 하지 못하는 3명의 중도장애학생을 대상으로 주 5회의 여가 활동 시간에 실시하였다. 손짓기호체계의 중재와 그림의사소통판을 이용한 중재가 학생의 의사소통 유형(손짓기호, 음성, 그림의사소통판)과 의사소통 기능(요구하기, 반응하기, 객관적 언급, 주관적 진술)에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 연구 결과 뇌성마비학생의 인지능력, 신체 조절 능력을 고려한 손짓기호체계와 그림의사소통판을 사용한 의사소통 중재가 뇌성마비학생의 의사소통 유형과 의사소통 기능의 발생 빈도를 향상시켰음을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구는 의사소통 도구와 상징체계의 적용이 늘어가고 있는 최근 한국의 특수교육 현장에서 도구체계를 이용한 보완대체 의사소통 유형뿐만 아니라 손짓기호체계와 같은 비도구 체계의 효율성에 대해 논의하였다.

영문 초록

Teachers and speech therapists have been focusing their communication training for students with severe cerebral palsy on using traditional articulation and/or communication board training. Literature showed that simplified manual sign system could be a viable option even for students with cerebral palsy. In this study, we developed a communication training which included manual sign system, communication board, and natural instructional strategies. Participants were three adolescents with severe cerebral palsy and a multiple probe design was used. Treatment was implemented 5 times per week during after-school recreation time. Dependent variables were communication methods(manual sign system, communication boards, vocal/verbal behavior) and communication functions (request, response, objective comment, subjective statement). Results showed that the treatment was effective for both dependent variables. Participants showed rapid increase in their use of manual sign systems and request function. Both treatment fidelity and reliability of measurement were calculated. Implications for communication treatment and future research was discussed.
