〈컴퓨팅 기초〉 강좌 수강생의 심화과정 수강의사와 컴퓨팅 언어 자신감에 영향을 미치는 요인

국문 초록

이 연구는 4차산업 혁명 시대의 인재양성을 목적으로 한 교양교육으로서 최근 대학에 개설된 컴퓨팅기초를 수강하며 프로그래밍 언어(파이썬)를 배운 학생들을 대상으로 설문조사를 하여 학생들의 강좌수강동기를 묻고, 강좌를 수강한 후 심화과정 수강의사와 컴퓨팅 언어에 대한 자신감을 조사한 연구이다. 최근 대학에서는 데이터 분석, 인공지능과 같은 분야의 중요성이 높아짐에 따라 관련 교양교과목들을신설하고 있는데, 이러한 상황에서 컴퓨팅 교양교육의 수강생 조사연구를 통해 교육의 개선점을 모색하고자 한다. 수집된 데이터는 R을 이용하여 기술통계 분석, 상관관계 분석, 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 학생들은 수업의 체감난이도가 낮을수록, 수업을 통해 IT 전반에 대한 지식을 얻을수록 심화과정도 수강하고 싶은 의사가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이를 통해 인문사회계 학생을 위한 프로그래밍 강좌에서 테크닉적인 부분 뿐 아니라 사회에서의 활용과 관련된 지식을 함께 배울 때 학생들로하여금 학문적 동기부여를 높여줄 것으로 예측할 수 있다. 둘째, 학생들은 수업의 체감난이도가 낮을수록, 수업에서 IT 지식을 얻을수록, 수업에 배정된 튜터가 도움이되었다고 할수록 컴퓨팅 언어에 대한자신감이 향상되었다고 응답했다. 특히 튜터로부터 도움을 받는 것의 중요성이 자신감에 미치는 영향이큰 만큼 대학에서 튜터-튜티 제도를 도입하여 교육효과를 높일 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This study surveyed students who took computer programming (Python) courses established as liberal arts education, and investigated their motivation for taking this class, their intentions of taking advanced courses, and their confidence in the computing language. The purpose of this study was to suggest improvements in education in light of the recent increase of such classes. The collected data was subjected to descriptive statistics analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis. First, as a result of this study we found that the more knowledge the students gained about IT through the class, the more inclined they were to take an advanced course. Therefore, we can predict that the level of academic motivation felt by the students will increase when the students learn not only the technical aspects of programming in Python, but also knowledge related to the application of a programming course in society. Second, the students said that the more helpful their tutor was, the more confident they became in their studies of Python, and the more their skill improved when it came to programming in this language. Furthermore, considering that tutors can play a key role in helping students to learn, and that their help has a significant influence on the confidence level of students, I strongly recommend that universities introduce a ‘tutoring system’ for increasing the effects of education.
