고령자의 침상 낙상예방을 위한 안전디자인 개발 방법 연구

국문 초록

고령자의 높은 낙상률은 고령자 개인뿐만 아니라 가족 삶의 질도 저하시키고, 장기적인 사회적 비용도 증가시키므로 중요하게 논의되어야 한다. 낙상사고는 다양한 위험요인의 복잡한 관계 속에서 발생하기 때문에 이를 체계적으로 파악하고 적용할 수 있는 디자인 연구가 필요하다. 이에 본 연구는 고령자의 침실 가구 중 낙상 다발 품목인 ‘침대’를 중심으로 안전디자인 방법론 개발을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 첫째, 고령자의 침대에서의 일상생활활동(ADL)을 조사하고, 이 중 낙상을 일으키는 행동요소 네 가지인 ‘일어나 앉기, 앉은 자세에서 일어서기, 의자나 휠체어로 옮겨 앉기, 다른 장소로 이동하기’를 추출하였다. 둘째, 낙상 행동요소와 관련된 고령자의 인간기능 요소를 ‘정신기능, 감각기능, 근육골격 및 운동기능’ 세 가지로 도출하였다. 셋째, 침대와 관련된 디자인 고려사항을 도출하기 위해, 먼저, 문헌조사를 통해 침대의 구성요소를 조사하고, 이에 따른 디자인 고려사항들을 분석하여 디자인 요소 네 가지 ‘안전성, 기능성, 심미성, 관리성’을 도출하였다. 넷째, 위의 연구결과를 취합하여 안전디자인 방법론인 매트릭스를 제안하였고, 검증을 위해 전문가 평가 과정을 거쳤다. 매트릭스의 형태는 X, Y축으로 구축되어 있으며, 가로축은 ‘낙상 관련 인간기능’과 ‘침대 구성요소’로 구성하였고, 세로축은 ‘디자인 고려사항’으로 관련 있는 디자인 요소와 세부 요소로 되어 있다. 또한 X, Y축에 대한 상호 중요도의 가중치는 (1,3,5)를 이용하여 영향이 클수록 큰 값을 표시하도록 하였다. 본 연구 결과는 안전이 요구되는 행위자(고령자)와 제품, 공간, 행위 등과의 연관성을 종합적이고 체계적으로 이해하고 디자인에 직접적으로 적용할 수 있는 기반을 마련하였으며, 뿐만 아니라 고령자를 위한 디자인 분야 산업에 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이고, 그 기준을 제시하는 데 도움을 줄 것으로 기대한다.

영문 초록

Elderly s high ratio of falls should be seriously discussed, since it reduces the life quality of not only them but also their families, while increasing long-term social costs. Fall accidents usually occur in the complex relations of various risk factors, so it is necessary to systematically understand them and examine designs that are able to be applied to them. The present study aims to develop Safety design methodology focusing on beds, a main cause of elderly people s falls among any other furniture. First, their activities of daily living in bedrooms were examined; in this way, four elements that result in falls such as standing up and sitting, standing up from sedentary posture, moving to chairs or wheelchairs and moving to other places were extracted. Second, three human functional elements in association with falling behavior elements included mental function, sensory function and muscle and physical functions were gathered. Third, with an aim of drawing bed-related design information, the reference survey on bed components was conducted in priority and four design elements such as stability, functionality, aesthetics and manageability were extracted by analyzing details related to design. Fourth, Matrix, safe and secure design method, was proposed by summarizing the results. To verify the outcomes, experts advised on them. Matrix is built up with X and Y axes. The horizontal axis consists of human function related to falls and bed components. The vertical axis consists of design elements and specific elements in association with design information. Furthermore, bigger values were marked in proportion to its impact using weights (1,3,5) of relative significance on both axes. The results laid a significant groundwork for understanding the association among actors (elderly) for whom safety is prioritized, products, places and behaviors in a comprehensive and systematic manner, and for applying them into design. In addition, it will serve as basic data used in the design industry for elderly people, and suggest proper standards.
