국문 초록

식민지 조선인은 비참했던 정치･사회적 생태계 안에서 맞닥뜨린 생존과 실존의 문제에 대응하기 위한 방법의 하나로서 ‘부단한 이동’을 삶의 전략으로 선택하였다고 할 수 있다. 이 연구는 일제 강점기 식민지 조선인의 이주 경험을 검토함으로써 이들의 이동을 추동한 거시적･미시적 차원의 배경, 이주 과정에서 드러나는 특징적 양상과 문화적 의미를 파악해 보는데 목적이 있다. 특히, 주목하고자 하는 대상은 한국인 원폭피해자들이다. 이들은 일제 강점기 하에서 현실적 실존을 위해 도일(渡日)을 선택했으나 1945년 히로시마, 나가사키에 투하된 원자폭탄으로 인한 피해를 구조적으로 경험하면서 다시 조선으로 귀환하여 정착한 집단을 가리킨다. 이주의 관점에서 한국인 원폭피해자를 연구하게 된 배경은 이들이 식민지기의 디아스포라적 월경(越境), 해방 직후 모국으로의 귀환, 치료 목적의 반복적 도일(渡日), 그리고 재정착의 과정 등에서 ‘뿌리 뽑힌’ 고통을 경험한 역사적 존재들이기 때문이다. 한국인 원폭피해자의 이주 경험을 검토하기 위해 구술생애사 인터뷰 자료와 구술채록 자료집을 최대한 활용하였다. 연구 질문은 크게 두 가지였다. 첫째, 일제 강점기 식민지 조선인의 구체적인 이주･귀환 과정과 경로, 그리고 거시적･미시적 차원의 배경을 삶의 맥락 안에서 확인하고자 하였다. 둘째, 이주실천의 과정에서 포착되는 문화적 실천 양상을 확인해 보고자 하였다.

영문 초록

The people of Joseon were exposed to a miserable political and social situation during the colonial era, and many chose to constantly be on the move as a means to counter the challenges they faced to survive and exist. This study conducted a review of the migration experiences of colonized people during the colonial period and the macroscopic and microscopic backgrounds behind their drive to migrate, while elucidating specific aspects and cultural impacts during their migration process. This study took a specific interest in Korean atomic bomb survivors. These were people that had migrated to Japan during the annexation as a way to survive but experienced after surviving the nuclear bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945, then migrated back to Joseon. The background behind conducting a study on Korean atomic bomb survivors through the lens of migration is that they were historical figures as uprooted people who experienced a diasporic border crossing, returned to their motherland after liberation, and went repeatedly back and forth to Japan for treatment while trying to resettle in their motherland. Interview data on the oral narratives and oral transcripts were utilized to research the migration experiences of these Korean atomic bomb survivors as much as possible. Two main questions were asked for the purpose of this research. First, the author tried to find the specific process and route the people of Joseon took while migrating to Japan and back during the Japanese annexation period while trying to find the microscopic and macroscopic backgrounds behind the migration in the context of their personal lives. Second, the author tried to uncover the cultural practice aspects that were captured during the actual process of migration.
