국문 초록

아렌트는 정치철학의 전통에 머물지 않고 다른 학문 영역으로 이동하여 성찰하고, 그것을 지닌 채 정치영역으로 이동하는 정신적 왕래를 지속하였다. 아렌트의 경우 ‘정치적인 것’은 공적인 삶과 연관된 다양한 장 사이의 확장된 관계망, 즉 정치에 대한 우리의 제한적 개념을 넘어서 시 문학 종교 등으로 확장되는 망을 의미한다. 이 연구는 아렌트의 저작에서 나타난 다양한 형태의 정신적 왕래를 전반적으로 조명하지는 않고, 정치적인 것을 밝히려는 목적으로 시, 희곡, 전기, 소설 등 문학예술에 대한 정치적 사유의 결실들 가운데 일부만을 고찰한다. 과거의 파편들을 취급하는 방식이 ‘이야기하기’이듯이, 그녀의 저작에 소개된 문학작품의 ‘단편적’ 내용들을 통해 정신적 왕래, 이야기하기, 정치적인 것의 관계를 조명한다. 아렌트의 정신적 왕래와 이야기하기는 정치이론의 독특성을 보여주는 동인이 되었으며, 정치적 사건의 의미와 현대적 적실성을 부각시키는 데 기여하였다. 아렌트는 이를 통해 우리 시대에 정치의 진정한 의미를 이해하고자 다양한 학문 영역을 넘어서는 지적 여정을 보여준 학문융합의 모범적인 정치이론가라고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

As seen in her political storytelling, Hannah Arendt had maintained the spiritual correspondences(wanderings, passages) between the politics and culture(poetry, literature, and religion, and so on) beyond the tradition of political philosophy. For Arendt, the political is defined as an expanding web of relationships between various fields of pubic life that extends beyond our usual restrictive concept of politics to poetry, literature, religion, and so on. The literary world itself is not the political space, but help us get the political imagination and widen the political horizon. In this study, the correspondences between politics and the literary arts(poetry, the play, fable, biography, novel) are mainly illuminated by the storytelling which is the Arendtian way of dealing with fragments of the past. The spiritual correspondences and the storytelling are characteristic of Arendt s political theorizing, and can contribute to make us understand not only the political meanings of the fragmented events in the history but also those of the current political events. She is deserved to be reputed as the exemplary political theorist who had already realized the importance of the academic convergence in the age of the lost tradition.
