『표준 한국어』에 나타난 다문화 이데올로기

국문 초록

이 연구는 2019년에 국립 국어원에서 개발한 다문화 배경의 중·고등학생들을 위한 『표준 한국어』교재를 사회인지적 및 다면적으로 분석하여 다문화 배경 학생들에게 어떠한 사회적 가치와 이데올로기가 투영되어 있는지 알아보고자 하였다. 그 결과, 『표준 한국어』교재의 집필 의도와 학습대상, 등장인물 소개를 통해서 ‘타자성’ 이데올로기를 볼 수 있었다. 그리고 교재 내 대화문을 통해 ‘일반 학생(우등)-다문화 학생(열등)’의 구조를 만들어 ‘마이너리티’ 이데올로기를 내포하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 이데올로기를 넘어서기 위해서는 다문화 배경 중·고등학생을 위한 『표준 한국어』교재는 ‘중도입국 청소년을 위한 한국어 교재’, ‘외국인 가정 자녀를 위한 한국어 교재’등 학습대상과 교재의 제목을 개별적이고 세분화하여 접근할 필요가 있으며, 등장인물 소개로 나오는 출신 나라에 대한 언급은 재검토가 이루어져야 한다. 또한, 대화문 내에서는 다문화 학생들이 보다 주체적인 역할을 하며 부족한 부분이 아닌, 잘하는 부분을 강조하고 대화를 이끌어나갈 필요가 있다. 한국 사회 내 ‘다문화’는 이미 차별적 용어로 자리 잡고 있으며, 거기에 내포된 이데올로기는 이미 많은 곳에서 깊은 고찰 없이 사용되고 있다. 따라서 ‘다문화’에 내포된 차별적 이데올로기를 지우고 다양한 학생들과 공존할 수 있는 사회가 될 때, 우리는 더 이상 ‘다문화 학생’들과 사는 ‘한국 다문화 사회’가 아닌, ‘다양한 학생’들이 존재하는 ‘다양한 공동체 사회’ 로 진입할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the 『Standard Korean』 KSL text book formiddle and high school students with multicultural backgrounds published by theNational Institute of Korean Language in 2019 and to find out what social valuesand ideologies are reflected in students with multicultural backgrounds. Thus, thisstudy looked at multicultural ideologies centered on ‘the otherness’ and ‘minority’.As a result, the intention of writing the 『Standard Korean』 textbook, the objectof study, and the introduction of characters were able to see the ideology of ‘theotherness’. And it was confirmed that it implies a ‘minority’ ideology by creating astructure of ‘general students(superiority)-multicultural students(inferiority)’ throughthe dialogue in the textbook. To overcome these ideologies, the『Standard Korean』textbook for middle and high school students with multicultural backgroundsneeds to be approached individually and subdivided by subjects and titles such as『Korean textbook for immigrant youth 』 or 『Korean textbook for foreign youth』.Also, within the dialogue, multicultural students need to play a more self-reliantrole and emphasize what they are good at, not what they are lacking.‘Multicultural’ in Korean society has already become a discriminatory term, andembodied the ideology. Alos, it has already been used in many places withoutdeep consideration. Therefore, when we erase the discriminatory ideologycontained in the term ‘multicultural’ and become a society that can coexist withvarious students, we will be able to enter a ‘diverse community society’ where‘diverse students’ exist, not ‘multicultural students’.
