시적 공간 ‘성산포’의 장소성 고찰

국문 초록

문학 작품은 세계에 대한 내용을 포함하고 있으며, 사람이 세계를 인식하고 경험하는 방법을 제시한다. 인본주의 지리학의 등장으로 문학 작품은 지리학자에게도 지역의 장소와 장소성을 연구하는 중요한 연구자료로 받아들여졌다. 여기서는 이생진 시인의 그리운 바다 성산포를 통하여 성산포의 장소성을 경관, 시간, 공동체, 뿌리내림을 중심으로 고찰하였다. 성산포의 주요 경관인 바다에서 마을로의 시선 이동, 일상과 삶·죽음의 시간의 흐름 속 장소, 공동체의 신념과 가치관이 공유되는 장소, 친밀한 장소 경험에서 오는 장소 애착으로 뿌리내림의 장소성을 확인하였다. 이 연구는 지역의 특성이 형상화된 문학 작품을 통하여 독자들에게 장소에 대한 다채로운 경험과 감성, 지식을 제공할 수 있고 장소 경험을 풍부하게 할 수 있으며, 지역의 장소성 형성과 전달에 도움이 될 수 있음을 고찰한 것에 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

Literature show the world where men belong to and suggest how men recognize and experience the world. Since geography took humanism as the meaningful subject; Humanistic geography, literature has been taken as important references to study local places and so-called ‘Placeness’ to geographers. This research considers the placeness of Seongsanpo in the landscape, the times, the communities and the rooted with a poem written by Saengjin Lee. The researcher could find the rooted placeness with the gazing line from the sea as the main landscape of Seongsanpo and the village, the place among daily lives and the times between life and death, the place that people could share their believes and values and affections by having familiar local experiences through this poem. This research can give people various experiences, sensibilities and knowledges related to the local place and make them abundantly experienced in a way of making references between geography and literature. And also it is relevant due to considering literature as the meaningful media to build and deliver the local placeness, using the poet projecting local traits.
