국문 초록

그리스도교 역사 안에서 그리스도인들은 개인적인 차원이든 공동체적인 차원이든 하느님과의 관계를 표현하는 종교의식, 축제일, 성상, 성물 등과 같은 다양한 방식을 사용해 왔다. 이는 이미 구약에서부터 시작된 하나의 신앙 표현이었고, 신약에서는 물론이거니와 교회가 세상으로부터 박해받는 동안 생겨난 많은 순교자들과 성인들을 향해서 자연스럽게 자리 잡게 되었다. 이런 신심이 사람들 안에 자리 잡으면서 신앙인들은 성인들 그 자체는 물론이거니와 성상이나 성화 그리고 성인들의 유해를 특별하게 공경하고, 그러한 것들이 있는 장소 또한 신심의 대상으로 삼는다. 그러나 이런 신심 행위는 하느님께 대한 신앙에 근거하지 않을 때, 미신이나 형식주의 위험을 초래하게 되고, 참된 신앙을 왜곡하는 결과를 가져오기도 한다. 그래서 교회는 이런 신심행위 특히 성인과 성화상 및 유해에 대한 경배가 올바른 신심 행위로 자리하도록 특별한 관심을 가지고 살핀다. 그리고 이런 경배가 전례와의 올바른 관계 안에서 그 의미를 찾고, 전례와의 조화 속에서 그리스도교 신자들의 신앙을 더욱 자라나게 할 수 있다고 가르친다. 현시대를 살아가는 그리스도인들에게 성인과 성화상 및 유해에 대한 경배에 대한 올바른 이해는 하느님과 만남, 은총의 성사에 열정적인 참여, 성인들에 대한 공경을 통해 신앙을 강화하고 전파하며, 교회 안에서 구성원들의 일치를 이룩하며, 친교와 사랑으로 초대하는 유익한 도구임을 잊지말아야 한다. 그러므로 신앙은 이 모든 경배의 주된 원천이어야 하고, 이 경배행위가 단순한 교회 안의 문화적 차원으로 축소되거나 변질되지 않도록 노력해야 한다. 이는 다른 종교적 형태로 대체될 수 없는 거룩한 전례에 절대적으로 관계되는 것으로, 올바른 전례 안에서 그 의미를 지키고 보전할 수 있는 것이다. 우리의 이러한 경배행위는 우리 각자의 성화를 위한 하느님의 은총에 대한 응답으로 성인들을 본보기로 삼을 것을 요구한다. 그리고 궁극적으로 성인과 성화상 및 유해에 대한 경배가 성인들을 그렇게 이끄신 그리스도를 닮는 것을 목표로 하여 다양한 형태의 전례 안에서 올바로 자리 하도록 하여야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

In Christian history, Christians have used a variety of ways of expressing their relationship with God, whether on a personal or communal level, such as religious ceremonies, holidays, icons, and sacred objects. This was an expression of faith that had already begun in the Old Testament, and it naturally settled toward the many martyrs and saints arising from the New Testament as well as the persecution from the world. As this devotion is established in the people, believers specially honor not only the saints themselves, but also the images and relics, and the places where such things are located are also objects of devotion. However, when these acts of devotion are not based on faith in God, they pose a danger of superstition or formalism, and may result in distortion of true faith. Therefore, the church pays special attention to ensure that these acts of devotion, especially the veneretione of saints, the image and the relics, are considered proper devotional. And it teaches that such veneretione can find its meaning in the right relationship with the liturgy, and that in harmony with the liturgy, the faith of Christians can further grow. For Christians living in the present age, the correct understanding of the veneretione of saints, images, and relics is to strengthen and spread the faith through meeting with God, passionate participation in the sacrament of grace, respect for the saints, and unity of members within the church. It should not be forgotten that it is a valuable tool to achieve and invite in fellowship and love. Therefore, faith must be the main source of all this veneretione, and efforts must be made not to reduce or deteriorate this act of veneretione to a simple cultural dimension within the church. It is absolutely related to the holy liturgy, which cannot be replaced by other religious forms, and is able to preserve and preserve its meaning in the correct liturgy. This act of veneretione demands that the saints be modeled in response to God’s grace for the sanctification of each of us. And ultimately, the veneretione of saints, the image of the image, and the relics should be put in place in various forms of liturgy with the aim of resembling the Christ who led the saints.
