노자의 성인관(聖人觀)을 통해 본 이순신의 지휘통솔법 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 이순신과 관련된 선행연구를 노자의『도덕경』의 성인관(聖人觀)을 통해 분석하여 그의 지휘통솔법을 연구하였다. 그 결과, 부리는 자가 아니라 섬기는 자, 타율로 강요하는자가 아니라 자율적인 자, 어깨를 높이는 자가 아니라 겸손한 자, 완성된 자가 아니라 완성을 향하는 자라는 것을 도출하였다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 종합해 볼 때, 지극히“성인(聖人)”같은 장군이었다고 판단된다. 그 성품이 강직하고 어떤 어려움과 고난 앞에서도 도리와 인륜을 저버리지 않는 성인같은 분이었다는 의미이다. 결국, 이순신이 성인(聖人) 리더로서 꿈꾸었던 이상향은 첫째, 비움은 새로운 가치창출을 위한 경쟁력이라는 것이다. 즉, 버리는 것이 힘이다-위도일손(爲道日損)이었다. 둘째, 끊임없이 버리고 아랫사람을 섬기는 자세라는 것이다. 이는 자애·검소·겸양-삼보(三寶)의 의미와 가치를 마음에 새기라는 것이다. 셋째, 변화의 중심에 설 수 있는‘기회의 발판’은 언제든지 찾아온다는 것이다. 왜냐하면, 이 세상에 완성된 것은 하나도 없기 때문이다. 즉, 큰 그릇은 완성이 없다-대기만성(大器晩成)이라는 것이다. 끊임없이 완성을 향해 준비하고 또 준비해서 기회를 기다리며 고독을 통제할 줄 아는 지혜를 갖추어야 한다는 것이다. 눈에 보이는 죽음은 끝이 아니라 시작일 뿐이다. 끝으로서의 사망이 아니라 시작으로서 죽음을 맞기 위하여 살아야 했던 바로 이순신이 성인군자로서의 풍전등화의 조선을 구했던 지휘통솔법의 요체라고 지적하고 싶다. 이순신 자신의 죽음 이후의 나라가 어떠할 것인지, 어째서 죽음을 두려워할 필요가 없었는지를 이순신의 지휘통솔법을 통해 스스로 깨달을 수 있는 많은 기회를 만드는 것이 필요한 시점이다. 이순신의 희생과 그 분의 일생이 현재를 살아가고 있는 우리에게 분명히 전해주는 메시지를 명확하게 분석할 필요가 있다. 향후 후속연구가 지속되어 이순신 관련 리더십 연구가 다양한 차원에서 다각적으로 이루어지길 기대한다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed the preceding studies related to Yi Sun-sin through the Saint of Lao-tzu s 『Tao Te Ching』 and studied his command and leadership method. As a result, it was derived that he was not a minister but a servant, not a coercive but an autonomous person, a humble person rather than a puffed one, a person who is not a finished person, but a person who advances toward completion. When the results of such research are combined, it is judged that he was an extremely “the Saint”-like general. In the end, the utopia that Yi Sun-sin dreamed of as the Saint leader is as follows. First, emptying is a competitive edge for creating new value. In other words, throwing away is power-it was WidoIlSon(爲道 日損). Second, it is the attitude of constantly throwing away and serving the subordinates. This means to keep in mind the meaning and value of the three treasures-charity, simplicity, and humility. Third, the “footprint of opportunity” that can stand at the center of change will always come. Because, nothing is done in this world. In other words, a large vessel is not complete-it is called DaeGiManSeong(大器晩成). It means that you must have the wisdom to constantly prepare for perfection, wait for opportunities, and control solitude. The visible death is only the beginning, not the end. I would like to point out that Yi Sun-sin, who had to live to face death as the beginning, not death as the end, was the core of the command and leadership method that saved the Joseon Dynasty as the Saint soldier. It is the time when it is necessary to create many opportunities for self-awareness through Yi s command and leadership method of what the country will be like after his own death and why he did not have to fear death. It is necessary to clearly analyze the message that Yi Sun-sin s sacrifice and his life clearly convey to us who are living in the present.
