국문 초록

이 연구는 최근 C대학교에서 추진한 교양 교육과정 개편 사례를 통해 미래 핵심역량 함양 및 교양수업의 질을 제고할 수 있는 효과적인 방안을 탐색하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 C대학교의 교양교육과정 운영 현황, 핵심역량 중심의 교양 교육과정 개편 배경, 주요 내용 및 운영 방안에 대해 살펴보았다. 특히, 대학의 인재상에 부합하는 핵심역량을 설정하고 이를 구현하기 위한 교양 교육과정 개편내용을 검토하고, 교양 교육과정 개편을 통한 수업 질 제고 방안에 대해 살펴보았다. C대학교에서는개편된 교양 교과목 수업의 질 향상을 위해 역량교양의 분반 개설 기준 인원을 하향 조정하였고, 학생참여형 수업 활성화와 과정평가를 유도하기 위해 절대평가를 도입하였다. 또한, 교수-학생 간 활발한상호작용을 위해 수업지원 조교를 배치하고 역량교양 교과목 및 담당교수 대상으로 역량교양 평가를실시하였다. 이 연구의 사례 분석 결과는 대학의 인재상과 핵심역량을 설정하고 이를 구현하기 위한역량 중심 교육과정을 마련하고, 수업의 질을 높이기 위한 방안을 모색하는 대학들에게 구체적이고실질적인 도움을 제공할 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to explore effective ways to improve core competencies for college students in future societies, and to enhance the quality of teaching in liberal arts subjects for competence. In doing so, the study examined the case of C university, which has made recent reforms to its competency-based liberal arts curriculum. The study reviewed the previous curriculum of liberal arts (2011-2018), the key reforms of the liberal arts curriculum, and the support given for liberal arts classes to improve their quality level. The findings are as follows; C university has lowered the maximum number of students from 80 to 60 in liberal arts classes for core competence. The university has also allowed absolute evaluation for its classes, so that students can participate actively and instructors can evaluate their student’s learning during the course. In addition, the university has assigned teaching assistants to eligible classes, and has provided them with additional evaluations in order to improve the quality of teaching. The results of this study would provide useful information to universities that have tried to build a competency-based curriculum system, and to improve the overall quality of instruction.
