코로나19로 인한 비대면 원격교육 환경에서 대학 교양교과목의 수업성찰

국문 초록

이 연구는 코로나19로 인해 대학의 수업이 비대면 원격수업으로 전환된 2020년 1학기 교양교과목의수업성찰 자료를 바탕으로 교수들이 변화에 어떻게 대응하고 그 결과를 어떻게 평가하는지 분석함으로써 교양수업의 운영 현황을 검토하고 질 개선을 위한 시사점을 얻는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해수업목표, 수업방법, 평가방법, 개선방향 등을 되돌아 볼 수 있는 CQI 형태의 수업성찰 설문을 개발하고, A대학교에서 교양교과목을 담당하는 교수에게 온라인 설문을 실시하였다. 총 169개 과목을 담당한77명의 교수가 참여하였다. 교양교과목의 성격에 따라 기초교육(의사소통, 기초 수학 및 과학), 교양교육, 소양교육으로 분류하고, 수업목표 달성도, 수업방법 적절성, 평가방법의 적절성을 살펴본 결과 4점만점에 평균 2.5점에서 3.0점 사이로 기대만큼의 효과를 얻지는 못한 것으로 나타났다. 영역별로 비대면교육이 효과적으로 운영된 사례를 살펴보면, 의사소통교육에서는 말하기보다 쓰기교육이 더 효과적이었으며, 외국어에 두려움을 갖는 초보 학습자에게 유용하였다. 기초 수학 및 과학교육에서는 동영상을통한 이론 수업과 실시간 문제풀이 수업을 균형 있게 운영함으로써 학습효과를 높일 수 있었다. 교양교육은 원격수업에 맞게 수업내용과 학습활동을 재설계하고 다양한 테크놀로지를 활용하여 상호작용을보완한 수업이 성공적이었다. 마지막으로 체육이나 예술실기와 같은 소양교육은 실시간 수업을 통해실습과 개별지도 등이 이루어졌으나 교육적 한계가 있었다. 다음 학기 수업의 개선사항으로 동영상강의와 실시간 수업의 균형, 학습과제 및 학습량 조절, 수업자료 및 동영상의 질 개선, 평가의 공정성과변별력 강화, 상호작용과 피드백 강화, 다양한 소프트웨어 도구의 활용 확대 등이 제시되었다. 이 연구는비대면 원격교육 상황에서 교수에 대한 지원과 교육환경의 개선을 위한 시사점을 찾는데 기여할 수있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze data regarding courses making the transition from face-to-face to non face-to-face classes, and to find areas which are in need of improvement regarding the quality of these courses. All conclusions are grounded on the teaching reflection data of instructors who taught general education courses during the 1st semester of 2020. Seventy-seven instructors in charge of 169 general education courses participated in the online course reflection survey. The reflection data were classified and analyzed in four areas: the basic communication education (BCE), the basic science and math education (BSM), the liberal arts education (LAE) and the cultivated education (CE). The outcome reveals that the degree of achievement of the teaching goals, the adequacy of the teaching methods, and the appropriateness of the evaluation methods turned out to be between 2.5 and 3.0 points on average on a 4 point scale, which is lower than in face-to-face classes. Good examples were found in some areas though. In BCE, online classes are beneficial in terms of writing more than speaking, as well as for beginners who are reticent to speak in a foreign language. In BSM, it is useful to learn theories through recorded video lectures and to solve the difficult problems through real-time online classes. LAE was successful in redesigning teaching contents and learning activities to suit online classes and supplement interactions using the digital software. CE, including aesthetic and physical education, suffered certain teaching limitations through online classes. Several ideas for improving the courses in the 2nd semester were suggested, such as balancing recorded video lectures and real-time online classes, considering proper learning tasks and assignments, improving the quality of the teaching materials, dealing fairly with the evaluations given by the students, activating interaction and feedback, and extending the use of multiple digital SW in class. The study could contribute to support future teaching methods and to elevate the quality of the distance educational environment in higher education.
