해방 이후 제주사 연구의 성과와 과제

국문 초록

해방 후 제주사에 대한 연구사 정리는 그 동안 세 차례 있었다. 1983년 제주대 탐라문화연구소, 1991년 제주도사연구회, 2011년 제주학회에서 수행하였다. 각각 당시까지의 제주사 연구 논저를 시대별, 주제별로 파악하여 그 성과를 검토하였다. 거기에 연구자 및 연구기관까지 소개하며 제주사 연구의 주체들을 파악할 수 있었다. 1983년의 연구사 정리는 1945년부터 1970년대 말까지 35년간 국내외에서 간행 발표된 역사 고고 분야에서의 제주도 관계 제반 논저를 개괄, 정리하였다. 1991년의 연구사 정리는 1980년대 논저를 대상으로 내용을 간략히 소개하고 향후 과제를 제시하였다. 이 두 차례의 연구사 정리는 제주사 연구 풍토나 역량이 제대로 갖추어지지 않을 때의 산물이었다. 따라서 비교적 소량의 논저를 대상으로 그 내용과 비판 및 향후 주제 제시까지 세밀히 정리하였다. 2011년의 연구사 정리는 앞의 두 차례와 달리 내용의 소개와 검토까지 이루지는 못했다. 그 이유는 1990년대 이후 제주사 연구자의 증가, 연구기관(단체)의 창립이 이어지면서 다량의 연구 논저들이 쏟아져 나왔기 때문이었다. 본고는 이상의 연구사 성과를 검토한 후, 다음의 세 가지 주제에 초점을 맞춰 논지를 전개하였다. 첫째, 시대별 연구주제(연구자)와 전망. 둘째, 제주사 연구기관과 그 성과. 셋째, 제주사 연구과제 검토와 전망. 필자는 이상의 논지를 전개하기 위해 해방 이후부터 2017년 현재까지 제주사 관련 논저 목록을 작성 하였다. 논저는 국사편찬위원회의 『한국사연구휘보』 및 각 기관(단체)의 학술지 목록 등을 참고하여 대략 1,000편 전후가 수집되었다. 이상의 논저를 시대별, 주제별, 기관(단체)별 등으로 분류한 뒤 다음의 세 가지 목표를 설정하여 논지를 전개하였다. 첫째 제주사의 주요 논저 목록을 구체적으로 소개한다. 둘째 향후 제주사의 시대별 연구 방향과 주제를 제시한다. 셋째 제주사 연구의 과제를 종합적이고 체계적으로 수행하기 위한 방안을 제시한다.

영문 초록

After liberation, there had been three times of study on history of Jeju so far. One of them had been taken by “Tamra” culture research institute in Jeju university in 1983, the other one taken by research society of history of Jeju in 1991 and lastly, taken by Jeju Academy in 2011. Each of them reviewed the outcome of studies by figuring out the research paper chronologically and per subjects. On top of that, it informed researchers and research institute which makes people can grasp who is the main agent of the research. First of all, the review of study in 1983 organized and summarized the books related history and archaeology field of Jeju from 1945 to the late 1970s. Second of all, the review of the study in 1991 provided a brief introduction to contents of books in 1980s and present future research tasks. These two times of studies had been done while the capability and condition of history research was not in good order. Therefore, with small quantity of books, relatively, this manuscript organizes the contents of those books by from criticizing to presenting future research task. Lastly, the review of study in 2011. This study did not introduce and review the content of the studies unlike the previous two reviews. This is because the researcher and research institute on history of Jeju had increased in number after 1990s, which produced a number of research papers. This manuscript reviews the outcome of the previous three studies. After that, it develop the contents focusing on next three subjects. 1. chronological research subject(or researcher) and the prospect. 2. Reseach institute of history of Jeju and the outcome. 3. Review on research subject of history of Jeju and the prospect. The writer of this article made a list of books related to history of Jeju from after liberation to 2017. This list consisted of about a thousand of books which are referred to 『A Collection of Reports of Korea History』 by the ‘National History compilation committee’ as well as journal lists of each research institutes. These books are classified by periods, subjects, and institutes. With these sources, this article set up three goals. Firstly, Introducing a list of primary books about history of Jeju in detail. Secondly, Suggesting future research direction and the subject of history of Jeju per period. Lastly, Suggesting the way of research on history of Jeju for conducting the study more synthetically and systematically.
