농어촌 학교의 교육과정 운영에 관한 연구

국문 초록

농어촌 학교 정책이라는 맥락 속에서 학교 교육과정 운영의 특징을 분석하기 위하여 경기도 농어촌 지역 6개교에 대한 사례연구를 실시하였다. 연구결과, 학교들은 재정지원을 통해서 다양하고 특색있는 교육과정을 운영하며, 방과후, 체험학습 등을 무료로 제공하는 복지적 혜택을 확대하는 방식으로대응하였다. 소규모학교의 장점을 활용한 유연한 교육과정과 개별화된 지도, 지역사회 연계 노력 등의 특징도 나타났다. 이를 통해서 학교는 부족한 지역사회 교육 인프라를 보완하는 역할을 수행하며, 농어촌 지역 학생들의 문화예술 소외를 극복하는 데 일정부분 기여하였다. 또한 학생에 대한 세심한 돌봄과 개별화된 지도가 이루어졌다. 반면, 체계적인 개별화 교육과정이나 본질적인 수업 혁신의 노력은 잘 보이지 않았다. 학교교육과정 특성화를 위한노력들은 교사 개인의 열의와 역량, 재정지원사업에 의존함으로써 지속가능성이 높지 않고, 교사들의 행정업무 부담으로 이어졌다. 이러한 한계를 극복하기 위하여 무엇보다 농어촌 학교에 대한 지원이 학교단위 사업에서 지역단위로 전환될 필요가 있음을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

To analyze the characteristics of school curriculum management in the context of rural school policy, a case study was conducted on six rural schools in Gyeonggi Province. Schools responded to the findings by implementing diverse, distinctive curricula through financial support and expanding welfare benefits that provide free after-school programs and field studies. Features such as a flexible curriculum utilizing the strengths of small schools, individualized guidance, and efforts to connect with local communities were also revealed. Thus, the schools played roles in supplementing the insufficient educational infrastructure of local communities and contributed to a certain extent to overcoming the alienation of culture and arts among students in rural areas. In addition, the schools provided meticulous care and individualized guidance for students. However, systematic individualized curricula or efforts toward essential class innovation were not visible sufficiently. Efforts to promote the specialization of school curriculum depended on individual teachers enthusiasm, competence, and financial support projects, which were not highly sustainable, leading to the burden of administrative work being placed on teachers. To overcome these limitations, we suggested that, above all, supports for rural schools need to be converted from school-level projects to regional unit-based projects.
