국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 미국 Pomona College의 글쓰기 교육이 지니는 특징을 밝히고, 한국 대학 글쓰기 교육에 주는 시사점을 찾아보는 데 있다. 포모나대학의 글쓰기 교육은 비판적 탐구세미나(Critical Inquiry Seminar)인 ID1 수업에서 이루어진다. 이 수업은 포모나대학 학문공동체에 성공적인 진입을 도우기 위해서 개설되는 수업으로, 다양한 학문을 섭렵하고 응용하기 위한 기초체력을 다지는 의미를 가지는 만큼, 1학년생들은 필수로 이수해야 하는 교과목이다. 이 수업에서는 학문영역을 가로지르는 독서, 글쓰기, 토론 등이 이루어진다. 글쓰기 집중과정이기도 한 ID1 수업에서는 비판적인 글쓰기를 하며, 초고쓰기와 수정하기의 과정을 반복하는 글쓰기가 중심이 된다. 포모나대학 글쓰기 교육의 특징은 소수의 수강생으로 진행되는 수업, 학제간 교과목 수업 중 학제간 글쓰기 교육, 비판정신이 창의성으로 연결될 수 있는 가능성, 책읽기와 토론이 병행되는 글쓰기 교육, 글쓰기센터 소속 글쓰기 펠로우 학생 활용, 수업과 글쓰기센터의 협업 등으로 신입생들이 학문공동체에 성공적으로 진입할 수 있도록 만들어주는 교육으로 요약될 수 있다. 포모나대학의 선진화된 글쓰기 교육 운영 방식은 여러 면에서 시사점을 주고 있다. 국내 대학에서도 연세대의 경우가 20명 내외의 수강생이 글쓰기 튜터의 도움으로 글쓰기 능력을 향상시키고 있지만, 대부분의 대학에는 튜터제도가 없다. 또한 학제간 글쓰기 교육보다는 글쓰기 기초교육이 주를 이루고 몇몇 대학에서만 전공글쓰기를 시도하고 있는 중이다. 수강생 수도 과다한 편이고, 글쓰기 교육의 이력이 일천한 한국의 대학생들을 위해서는 수업시간을 더욱 늘리고, 수강인원을 대폭 축소하고, 독서와 토론이 글쓰기 교육의 바탕이 될 수 있는 교과 운영이 필요하다. 또한 우수한 글쓰기 교수를 양성해야 하고, 글쓰기 펠로우나 튜터 출신이 글쓰기 교수로 성장할 수 있는 환류시스템이 필요하다. 양성제도위해서 교육환경도 더 세심하게 고려할 필요가 있음을 가르쳐주고 있다.

They re also writing intensive, draft, and critical writing in writing and repeated the process of writing that became a center to correction. Small number of trainees is the characteristic of writing at Pomona College education classes, running from the interdisciplinary subjects, an interdisciplinary class spirit writing, critical education is connected to creativity Education, writing center, reading books and discussion mix, the possibility of writing writing felloe s use and writing center of cooperation such as a freshman class of students to successfully enter the community.
