국문 초록

본 연구는 추리·액션·코미디의 장르 혼합적인 구조로 흥행에 성공한 영화 <셜록 홈즈: 그림자 게임>에 나타난 의상의 역할을 살펴봄으로써 다양한 장르에서의 의상의 적극적인 활용을 위한 데이터베이스를 확립하는 데 기여하고자 한다. 이에 장르의 가장 중요한 구성 요인인 서사 구조를 분석하기 위해 카웰티와 보글러의 이론을 바탕으로 추리·액션 장르의 서사 구조 9단계를 설정하였다. 영화의 전체 장면들을 9단계에 따라 구분하고 각 단계에 해당하는 장면 속에서 스토리 전개, 장면의 시각적 표현, 인물의 캐릭터 특성 표현 등을 위해 주인공의 의상이 어떤 역할을 하는지 분석하였다. 코미디적 표현 방법에 대해서 바흐친의 카니발 이론을 중심으로 분석하였다. 추리를 이끄는 탐정 활동을 위한 수단으로 의상과 분장을 활용한 변장이 주로 활용되었고, 액션 장면에서는 의상을 통한 다양한 시각적 연출이 시도되었다. 문화적 다원성을 가진 홈즈의 캐릭터 특성은 다양한 변장과 타문화권 의상의 활용으로 나타났으며 여러 변장 의상은 웃음을 유발하는 도구로 활용되었다. 본 연구는 장르적 특성이 반영된 서사 구조라는 분석 틀을 활용하여 장면별 의상의 역할 및 코미디 표현을 분석하였다는 데에 큰 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study aims to contribute to establishing a database for active use of costumes in various genres by looking at the role of costumes in the hit film in a mixed genre structure of mystery, action and comedy. In order to analyze the narrative structure, which is the most important component of the genre, the narrative structure of the mystery and action genre was set up based on the theories of Cawelti and Vogler. The entire scene of the film was divided into nine stages and analyzed the role of the main character s costume for story development, visual representation of the scene, and characteristics of the character in each stage. The comedy expression of costume was analyzed based on Bakhtin s carnival theory. Disguise using costumes and makeup was mainly used as a means of detective activities leading to reasoning, and various visual productions through costumes were attempted in action scenes. Holmes character with cultural plurality were shown by the use of various disguises and other cultural costumes, and various disguise costumes were used as tools to induce laughter. This study is significant in that it analyzed the role of costumes and comedy expressions by using the analysis framework of narrative structure reflecting genre characteristics.
