국문 초록

본 연구에서는 먼저 퍼스의 기호학과 아이콘에 대한 이론적 배경을 고찰하고 영상보안시장의 현황과 대표기업 5곳의 개요를 살펴보았다. 본론에서는 영상보안영역 아이콘을 기호학에 근거한 표현방식에 따라 분류기준을 정의하고 종류를 나누어 유형별 특징을 분석하였다. 이어서 아이콘을 구성하는 세 가지 디자인 요소의 특성을 파악한 후, 영상보안영역 대표기업 3사가 공통적으로 사용하고 있는 중요 아이콘 8개를 선정하여 퍼스의 기호 삼원적 관계의 틀을 통해 해석상의 의미작용을 비교/분석하였다. 또한 전문가 설문조사를 통해 의미해석이 쉽고 정확하게 이루어지는 아이콘의 종류와 해석의 난이도를 분석하였다. 이를 종합적으로 고찰하여 효율적인 정보전달을 위한 다섯 가지의 디자인 조건들을 도출할 수 있었다. 첫째는 기술표준 및 성능과 관계된 내용은 문자형 아이콘을 적용한다. 둘째는 가급적 복합형 아이콘으로 디자인한다. 셋째는 아이콘의 그래픽을 최대한 구상적으로 표현한다. 넷째는 추상형으로 디자인 되어야한다면 아이콘의 의미와 추상적 그래픽을 심도 있게 연결시켜야한다. 다섯째는 아이콘의 타이포그래피는 가독성을 위해 산세리프체를 적용하고 컬러는 두 가지 이상을 사용하지 않는다.

영문 초록

In this study, first, the theoretical background of Peirce s semiotics and icons was examined, and the current status of the video security market and an overview of five leading companies were examined. In the main paper, classification criteria were defined according to the expression method based on semiotics for the security area icon, and the characteristics of each type were analyzed by dividing the types. Next, after grasping the characteristics of the three design elements that make up the icon, eight important icons commonly used by the three leading companies in the video security field were selected, and the meaning of interpretation was analyzed through the frame of Peirce s three-way symbolic relationship. In addition, the types of icons and the difficulty of interpretation were analyzed through expert surveys. By examining this comprehensively, it was possible to derive five design conditions for efficient information delivery. First, the text-type icon is applied to the contents related to technical standards and performance. Second, design as a composite icon as much as possible. Third, express the graphic of the icon in a concrete way as possible. Fourth, if it is to be designed in an abstract shape, the meaning of the icon and the abstract graphic must be connected in depth. Fifth, the typography of icons uses sans serif for readability, and no more than two colors are used.
