국문 초록

삼국시대에 활발히 축조된 고총에는 고대의 다양한 토목기술이 집약되어 있다. 특히, 봉분을 쌓기 위한 방법과 기술에 대해서는 제방이나 토성 등과 함께 고대 성토구조물을 연구하는데 있어 중요한 요소로서 꾸준한 논의의 대상이 되어 왔다. 이러한 흐름에 맞춰 고분조사에 있어서도 단편적인 성토층의 파악에 그치지 않고 봉분 전체의 성토과정과 방법을 알아내기 위한 노력이 계속되고 있다. 최근 봉분을 전면적으로 완전히 해체하면서 정보를 획득하는 소위 完掘 사례가 증가하였는데, 대표적인 예가 창녕 교동 7호분이다. 교동 7호분은 근래 보기 드문 정밀한 봉분조사의 대표 사례이며, 다양하고 방대한 양의 토층정보를 획득하였고 이와 관련된 상세한 내용이 보고되어 있다(우리문화재연구원 2014). 고총의 성토법과 관련하여 새로운 정보를 제공해줄 수 있는 좋은 자료이지만, 보고서가 간행된 이후 7호분의 봉분 성토법과 관련된 후속 논의는 그다지 활발하지 못하였다. 이는 보고된 내용이 워낙 방대하여 정리가 쉽지 않은 부분이 있고, 발굴자 외에는 관련 자료를 정확히 이해하기 어려운 측면도 있기 때문이다. 필자는 이러한 상황 속에서 최근까지 교동 7호분과 관련되어 보고·발표된 내용을 바탕으로 봉분 성토와 관련된 내용을 종합적으로 재검토하였다. 그 결과, 그간 보고된 내용의 일부를 수정하고 7호분의 봉분 성토법과 관련된 중요한 특징을 확인하였다. 7호분의 봉분 성토는 크게 2단계에 걸쳐 이뤄졌으며 각 단계는 동시성토과 순차성토라는 성토방법의 큰 차이가 확인되었다. 단계별로는 성토단위의 수와 성토단위를 나누는 중심 분할선이 달리 확인되었다. 이외 성토단위별로 호석 축조가 나눠지는 것이 확인되었고 소분구상성토, 토제상성토, 내사향성토, 수평성토 등 다양한 성토기법이 한 고분 내에 적용되었음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 성토방법의 차이와 여러 성토기법의 적용은 봉분축조의 효율성과 안정성을 높이기 위한 결과이며, 여기에는 당초 설계된 봉분의 규모와 실제 고분이 입지한 동서 지형의 높낮이 차이 등이 영향을 미친 것으로 판단된다

영문 초록

Ancient tombs, which were actively constructed during the Three Kingdoms Period, are composed of various ancient civil engineering techniques. In particular, the discussion of methods and techniques for building a mound has been a constant source of interest as an important factor in studying ancient castles such as embankment and Saturn. In line with this trend, efforts have been made to find out the process and method of the entire mound, as well as to identify the fragmentary base layer in the ancient tombs. Recently, the number of so-called 完掘 cases of obtaining information has increased as the Bongbun was completely dismantled. A typical example is Changnyeong Gyodong Tomb No. 7. Gyodong Tomb No. 7 is a representative example of a rare detailed survey of the bongbun survey, and it has obtained a wide and extensive amount of ground information and related detailed reports are made public. Although it is good data to provide new information on the soil law of the Gosong Tomb, subsequent discussions on the soil law of Tomb No. 7 have not been very active since the report was published. This is because the reported foundation content is so vast that it is not easy to organize, and there are some aspects that it is difficult to accurately understand the relevant data other than the excavator. Under these circumstances, I made a comprehensive review of the contents related to the burial site of the mound based on the reports and announcements concerning Gyodong No. 7 until recently. As a result, some of the reported contents were revised and important characteristics related to the method of the burial of tomb No. 7 were identified. It was shown that the septum soil of No. 7 was largely carried out in two stages, each of which was completely different within one ancient tomb, including the difference in the detailed soil technique of simultaneous soil and sequential soil, the difference in the quantity of the fill unit, and the difference in the center line of division dividing the fill unit. It is estimated that this difference and the application of the fill method are intended to enhance the efficiency and stability of the construction of the mound, which was influenced by the difference in the size of the original design mound and the height of the East-West terrain in which the actual tombs were located.
