국문 초록

본 연구는 운전 시뮬레이션 기법을 사용하여 자동차 항법 시스템 메뉴 항목수의 변화 여부 및 메뉴선택에 대한 시간압력 유무에 따라 운전자의 항법 시스템 정보 탐색과 운전 수행이 어떠한 양상으로 나타나는지를 검토하기 위해 실시되었다. 이를 위해 메뉴 선택 단계마다 스크린에 제시되는 메뉴 항목의 수를 일정하게(고정형) 혹은 달라지도록(변화형) 조작하였으며, 각각의 조건에 대해 시간압력의 정도도 달리하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 운전자의 메뉴항목 선택 시간은 변화형 구조보다는 고정형 구조에서, 그리고 시간압력이 없는 조건에 비해 시간압력이 있는 조건에서 더 빨랐다. 둘째, 운전자의 운전 속도 변산성 및 목표 속도에서의 이탈 정도와 같은 차량의 종적 통제는 고정형 메뉴 구조가 제시되었을 때 더 저조하였고, 특히 이러한 효과는 시간압력이 없을 경우에만 관찰되었다. 셋째, 차량의 종적 통제와는 대조적으로 차선침범 빈도와 같은 차량의 횡적 통제는 시간압력이 있는 조건에서 변화형 메뉴 구조가 제시되었을 때 더 저조하였다.

영문 초록

The purposes of the present study was to examine the effects of variation in the number of menu items of in-vehicle navigation system and time pressure on driver s menu item selection and driving performance. Menu structure was manipulated as the system screen shows constant number of menu items(constant condition) or varied number of menu items(varied condition). The levels of time pressure on menu item search were also manipulated. Driver s menu selection and driving performance were measured as the dependent variables. The results of this study can be summarized as followings. First, drivers menu item selection time was faster when they were provided constant number of item on the screen and under time pressure condition than varied number of menu item condition and no time pressure condition. Second, Drivers longitudinal vehicle controls were more impaired when the drivers were under no time pressure condition and in the constant condition. In contrast, lateral vehicle control of the drivers was impaired more under time pressure condition and varied condition. Finally, implications of the study was discussed.
