김장생(金長生)의 사회관계망과 문인 집단의 형성

국문 초록

본고는 조선 유학의 학파에 대한 선행 연구에 유의하여 율곡학파(栗谷學派)가 이이(李珥) 사후에 어떠한 모습으로 구체화되고 전개되었는지를 김장생(金長生, 1548~1631)의 문인 집단을 중심으로 검토한 것이다. 이이 사후에 적전(嫡傳)으로 평가받으며 율곡 학맥을 지속적으로 이어 나간 중심인물은 김장생이며, 김장생 문하에서 형성된 문인 집단에 대한 검토는 이이 사후에 율곡학파가 어떻게 조성되고 전개되었는지를 확인할 수 있는 결절점에 해당된다고 할 수 있다. 김장생의 문인 집단을 검토할 수 있는 기초 자료는 『사계전서(沙溪全書)』의 부록으로 수록된 ｢문인록(門人錄)｣이다. 비록 김장생 사후 적지 않은 시간이 경과한 후에 작성된 것이지만, 이 문인록은 적어도 김장생의 강학 활동과 결부하여 그의 문하에 입문한 문인들을 종합적으로 고찰할 수 있는 자료라는 점에서 유의미하다. 따라서 본고는 ｢문인록｣과 관련 자료를 망라하여 김장생의 문인 집단에 대한 검토를 진행하였다. 이에 앞서 그와 직간접적으로 연계된 사회관계망을 중심으로 문인 집단 형성 배경을 고찰하였으며, 김장생의 강학 활동에 대해서도 시기별 추이에 따라 그 내용을 정리하여 문인 집단 형성에 끼친 영향과 내용을 확인하였다. 이러한 고찰을 통해 김장생의 문인 집단은 이이 학맥 이외에 성혼(成渾)을 비롯한 다른 기호 학맥을 포섭하고 수용하여 기호학계의 통일적인 면모를 갖추었지만, 이러한 면모는 일시적인 기호학계의 통합이지 학문적 정치적 입장에서의 화학적인 결합이 이루어진 것이라 보기에는 어려운 측면을 가진 것이라는 것을 확인하였다.

영문 초록

This paper examines how Yulgok School(栗谷學派) was embodied and developed after Yulgok(栗谷) s death, focusing on Kim Jang-saeng(金長生, 1548~1631) s literary group, considering the previous studies on the school of Confucianism in Joseon. Kim Jang-saeng is regarded as a master after Yulgok s death and is the central figure who continued the academic tradition of Yulgok, and the review of the literary group formed through the Kim Jang-saeng lecture activity can be said to be a node point to confirm how Yulgok school was created and developed after Yulgok. The basic data to examine Kim Jang-saeng s literary group is the literary book included in the appendix of Sagyejeonseo(沙溪全書). Although it was written after a few periods of Kim s death, this literary book is meaningful in that it is a material that can be comprehensively examined with at least Kim s teaching activities and the literary people who entered his literary field. Therefore, this study reviewed Kim s literary group by covering literary book and other related materials. Prior to the analysis of the literary group, the background of the literary group formation was examined focusing on the social network directly or indirectly connected with Kim, and also summarized the contents of Kim s teaching activities according to the periodical trends and confirmed the influence and contents on the formation of literary group. Through this study, it was confirmed that the literary group of Kim had a unified aspect of Kiho(畿湖) academic world by accepting and accepting the academic veins of other Kiho areas including Seong-Hon(成渾) in addition to Yulgok academic vein, but this aspect is a temporary integration of Kiho academic world and it is difficult to see that it was a chemical combination from the academic and political perspective.
