국문 초록

극예술연구회 제8회 공연은 1935년에 시행된 유일한 정기공연이었다. 극예술연구회는 1935년에 적어도 네 차례의 공연 무산을 경험해야 했고, 11월에 들어서야 간신히 제8회 정기공연을 수행할 수 있었다. 제8회 정기공연은 1회에 3작품을 공연하는 방식으로 치러졌는데, 이것은 검열과 내부 문제를 해결하려는 강한 목적을 견지하고 있다. 특히 국내작 비율이 증가했고, 서구작의 위상이 떨어졌으며, 현실 비판적인 희곡의 공연을 중지했다. 이러한 상황에서 <한낮에 꿈꾸는 사람들>은 특히 주목되는데, 그것은 개작을 통해 오히려 현실에 밀착된 공연 대본을 생산하려 했기 때문이다. 결과적으로 이러한 시도는 극예술연구회가 직면한 난관을 해소하면서도, 신극 수립과 현실 비판적 희곡을 수용하기 위한 시도였다고 해야 한다. 또한, 이러한 시도는 극예술연구회가 운영 체제 변화와 관련된 과도기에 처해 있다는 일종의 신호이기도 했다.

영문 초록

The 8th regular performance of the Geugyesuryeonguhoe was the only regular performance in 1935. The Geugyesuryeonguhoe had to stop at least four regular performances in 1935, and it was barely possible to conduct the eighth regular performance until November. The 8th regular performance chose the method of performing three works in one performance, and this performance method strongly held the purpose of solving censorship and internal problems at the time. At the same time in this process, the proportion of Korean plays increased particularly, the status of Western plays fell relatively, and performances of plays that closely criticized reality were suspended. In this situation, Hannaje kkumkkuneun saramdeul(Midday dreamer) is particularly noticeable, because the Geugyesuryeonguhoe attempted to produce a script that closely adhered to reality through the adaptation. As a result, these attempts were aimed at solving the difficulties faced by the Geugyesuryeonguhoe and at the same time establishing Realism drama(a new play) and accommodating critical plays. In addition, this attempt was also a kind of sign that the Geugyesuryeonguhoe is passing the transition period of operating system change.
