국문 초록

본 논문은 영화에 나타난 노인 캐릭터의 재현방식을 살펴보는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해서 본 연구는 가치를 중심으로 노인 캐릭터를 유형화 하고, 각 유형별 재현 방식을 살펴보았다. 연구대상은 2000년 이후 노인 영화 12편을 선정했으며, 기호학을 분석 방법론으로 활용했다. 우선, 캐릭터 유형은 쾌락주의형, 보편주의형, 자기지향형, 순응형, 박애형, 안정형 등 6개로 분류를 하였다. 쾌락주의형 캐릭터는 사랑과 새로운 인생을 가치로 설정하였고, 보편주의형 캐릭터는 사회정의를, 안정형 캐릭터는 가족애와 모성을, 자기지향형 캐릭터는 감성, 박애형은 우정과 포용, 순응형 캐릭터를 죽음을 가치로 추구하는 것으로 분석됐다. 각 유형별 재현방식은 사랑과 이별, 가상과 현실, 진실과 거짓, 이성과 비이성, 순종과 거역, 모성과 부성, 희생과 이용, 현실과 비현실 등으로 시각적 정체성을 구축하고 있으며 이를 토대로 재현되고 있었다. 이러한 재현방식은 국내 영화에 등장하는 노인캐릭터들의 컨벤션으로 규정할 수 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to examine the representation method of elderly characters in movies. To this end, this study categorizes the elderly characters by focusing on value and examines the representation method for each type. The research subject has selected 12 movies for the elderly since 2000, and semiotics is used as an analysis methodology. First of all, the character types were classified into six types: Hedonism type, universalism type, self-direction type, conformity type, benevolence type, and security type. Hedonism type characters set love and new life as values, universalism type characters seek social justice, security type characters seek family love and motherhood, self-direction characters affection, benevolence type seeks friendship and engagement, and conformity characters as death value Was analyzed. Representation method for each type is constructing visual identity with love and separation, virtual and reality, truth and falsehood, reason and irrationality, obedience and rebellion, motherhood and fatherhood, sacrifice and use, reality and unreality, etc. This representation can be defined as a convention of elderly characters in domestic movies.
